					Proposals are being accepted for the College Diversity Development Grant. Proposals should be
made for discipline-specific diversity programs within any Texas Tech University academic college.
An academic college should be the primary sponsor of a proposal; however, a proposal may be
made in partnership with other university units or external groups. Proposals may target specific
departments within a college, as long as the initiative has a college-wide support. The proposal
should seek to strengthen the academic mission of a college while positively influencing the
intellectual value of diversity at Texas Tech.

OBJECTIVES
 Implement, strengthen and expand college programs that advance an understanding of
   diversity
 Promote an inclusive learning environment for students, faculty, and staff
 Help link a college’s diversity initiatives to the academic mission and strategic priorities of the
   college and university

FUNDING
One college will be selected to receive a grant of up to $5,000 for Fall 2012 or Spring 2013. The
grant period begins October 1, 2012, and ends August 31, 2013. During the grant period, the
grantee must acknowledge the Division of Institutional Diversity, Equity & Community Engagement
on all promotional materials by using the proper accreditation statement and logo.

PROPOSAL
A proposal includes an application, narrative statement, and budget for up to $5,000. Proposals
should:
 Demonstrate the link between the proposed initiative and the academic mission and strategic
    priorities of the college and university
 Be designed to have an impact on the quality of teaching, learning, and diversity for faculty,
    staff, and/or students within the college
 Enrich the diversity experiences of faculty, staff, and/or students
   Attempt to maximize collaborative opportunities and seek to leverage resources to maximize
    effectiveness

All projected expenses should be included in the budget and it should be noted when the funds will
be spent. Allowable expenses include, but are not limited to:
     o Postage                                       o Travel
     o Printing                                      o Speaking fees
     o Supplies                                      o Facility rental
     o Expenses related to conducting                o Equipment rental
         workshops
Ineligible costs include, but are not limited to:
     o Staffing/temporary labor                      o Debts or financial losses that result from a
     o Capital costs                                     project
     o Continuing education                          o Normal operating expenses of the college
     o Furniture                                         or applicant not directly related to the
                                                         implementation of the program

SUBMISSION
Proposals should not exceed 12 pages and should be submitted by September 19, 2012. Applicants
will be notified of a decision approximately two weeks after the deadline. Mail or deliver

REPORT
Within sixty days of the end of the program, the grantee should submit a final report, which may
include the following:
 Description of program participants (e.g., gender, age, ethnicity, first generation college student
    status, economic status, occupation, etc.)
 Benefits to participants (e.g., improvement in skills, achievement of goals, etc.)
 Impact in supporting the college’s diversity initiatives and strategic priorities of the college and
    university
