ELECTIONS
      Vanier College Council Positions 2011-2012


    1. Vanier College Council (voting member)
        I. First year representative (2 positions)
   To Act as the liaison between First Year students and Council;
   To represent the interests of First Year students;
   To provide assistance in the promotion of College and/or Council events
    according to the discretion of the Director of Promotions;
   To maintain a set number of office hours, as prescribed by Council, which shall
    not be less than one (1) hour per week;
   To carry out the duties assigned to all Members as prescribed in this Article and
    as required in any Act or other subsidiary regulation; and,
   To assume such other duties as Council may, from time to time, assign


         II. Residence representative
   Must live in Vanier residence
   To Act as a liaison between Residence Life Staff (Dons, RLC, Programmers and
    Porters) and Vanier College Council;
   To represent the interests of students residing in Vanier College Residence;
   To maintain a set number of office hours, as prescribed by Council, which shall
    not be less than one (1) hour per week;
   To carry out the duties assigned to all members as prescribed in this Article and
    as required in any Act or other subsidiary regulation; and,
   To assume such other duties as Council may, from time to time, assign.


       III. Commuter representative
   Must commute to York university
   To represent the interests of commuter students;
   To organize annual food and clothing drives;
   To develop commuter sleep over program for VCC events as requested;
   To liaise with Parking and Transportation keeping an up-to-date schedule of
    fees, service interruptions, etc; and post the aforementioned information
   To serve as a voting Member on the Vanier College “Club of the Year” Awards
    Committee;
     To assist the President in the recruiting and hiring of a commuter sleep over
      staff for the upcoming orientation week.
     To maintain a set number of office hours, as prescribed by Council, which shall
      be no less than one (1) hour per week;
     To carry out the duties assigned to all members as prescribed in this Article and
      as required in any Act or other subsidiary regulations; and,
     To assume such other duties that Council may assign from time to time;


          IV. General Member (2 positions)
     To attend weekly meetings.
     To fulfill a minimum of two office hours per week.
     To attend and assist with any events that council may run or sponsor.
     To perform duties listed within your assigned portfolio of specific position.
     To participate on other sub-committees that council may form on an ad-hoc
      basis.
     To perform other duties that council may from time to time assign.
     General members will take part in an internal election that will determin the
      specific position


Individuals interested in any of the positions should pick up
  a nomination package located outside the Vanier College
Council Office; located in room 120 Vanier College or outside
   Vanier Residence. All nomination packages are due NO
       LATER THAN 5:00 pm - Tuesday October 18th.
