KIRKLEES COLLEGE JOB DESCRIPTION Support Worker for Learners with SpLD/Dyslexia POST REF: 10086 LOCATION OF THE POST WITH THE COLLEGE STRUCTURE: The post holder will be a member of the Student Support department based at the HUDDERSFIELD & DEWSBURY Centre. REPORTS TO: Curriculum Team Leader RESPONSIBLE FOR: Supporting learners on all sites as deployed FUNCTIONAL LINKS WITH: Internal:All staff at Kirklees College involved in the delivery of learning support and curriculum delivery. External: Parents and carers, schools, residential, social services and other external agencies OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE POST: Support and integration of learners with SpLD into colleges courses by developing learning and strategies in collaboration with SpLD tutors. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: In the first instance, your duties and responsibilities are listed below including the critical success factors relating to the post. As the needs of the College change, you will be expected to take on or drop responsibilities as directed by the Line Manager. SPECIAL FEATURES OF THE POST: As a member of the College Student Support Directorate the post holder will work in an environment of constant change and pressure where an amount of personal decision-making and judgement is required. The post holder must have the ability to work with a wide range of people of all ages from very different backgrounds with very different needs and to respond accordingly to support those needs. The duties and responsibilities attached to this role demand a flexible approach to work, which will include occasional evenings and very occasional Saturdays. Conditions of Appointment As this is a term-time only appointment, you will only be required to work during the College’s main term-time, a total of 38 weeks out of the year. Appointment will be to a contract with Kirklees College working to Business Support Staff terms and conditions of service under the following main provisions: Working Week: The normal average working week will be 30 hours. There may be occasions when you will be expected to work outside these hours to meet the demands of the job. Holiday Entitlement: Since this is a term-time only appointment, you will be required to take your leave as and when you are not required for work. A total of 38 weeks per year are workable. A holiday pay allowance equivalent to 44.65 weeks is included in the annual salary. Pension: You will be entitled to participate in the West Yorkshire Superannuation Scheme at a rate of 6.5% of salary, with an employer contribution of 13.1%.
