24TH JUNE 2012
THE BIRTH OF ST JOHN THE BAPTIST (B)
PRIEST:
With John the Baptist interceding on our behalf, let us present our prayers and petitions to
the Father.
READER:
We pray for the Church throughout the world: that by her faithful proclamation of the Gospel,
people will be brought to faith in Christ.
Lord, hear us. (Response: Lord, graciously hear us.)
We pray for our Holy Father, Pope Benedict, our Archbishop Peter and all who hold positions of
responsibility in the Church: that like John, they may always act in a spirit of humility.
Lord, hear us. (Response: Lord, …..)
We pray for peace throughout the world, and for all those involved in striving to promote peace
and harmony in their countries. May those in positions of authority seek to govern with justice,
wisdom and compassion.
Lord, hear us. (Response: Lord, ….. )
We pray for all expectant mothers and fathers: may they rejoice in the birth of their children and
be filled with wonder at their awesome task as parents.
Lord, hear us. (Response: Lord, …..)
We pray for all those who are preparing for or undergoing exams at this time: that their dedication
and efforts may bear fruit.
Lord, hear us. (Response: Lord, …..)
We pray for all who are sick, for those in hospital or who are housebound, and especially for the
seriously ill: may they receive courage and comfort through the Holy Spirit and our prayers for
them. We pray for Cathy Mooney and Ken Jobson at this time.
Lord, hear us. (Response: Lord, …..)
We pray for all who have died, remembering all our deceased parishioners. We pray especially
for the repose of the soul of Joyce Peach, whose funeral takes place on Tuesday. May they find
new life in the company of Jesus and all the saints, and may God comfort the bereaved.
Lord, hear us. (Response: Lord, …..)
Let us ask Mary, the mother of Jesus and of the Church, to guide all our prayers, as we say
together:
Hail Mary, full of grace …….
Let us pray for a few moments in silence for our own special intentions.
PRIEST:
God our Father, we ask you to hear our prayers and make us always faithful in your
service. We make our prayer, through Christ our Lord. AMEN.
