                                           JOB VACANCY


 Position Title: Senior Visa and Integrity Officer (Locally Engaged Designated)

The Visa and Immigration Office of the Australian Embassy in Seoul is recruiting a specialist

Locally Engaged Designated (LED) employee to undertake the role of Senior Visa and Integrity
Officer (SVAIO).
The occupant of this position will be responsible managing a diverse visa caseload including

complex cases and for undertaking a range of integrity related tasks relevant to visa processing in
Korea and Japan. The occupant will implement visa and system change projects and contribute to
training staff on processing and integrity issues.

The successful applicant will exercise delegation to assess and decide visa applications in both the
temporary and permanent migration programs.

Successful applicants will need to have:


        Demonstrated experience in visa assessment and lawful decision making

        High volume case load management skills

        Strong client service background

        Proficiency with Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) systems (or similar

         visa processing and integrity systems)


        Sound understanding of integrity issues and excellent liaison skills

        Well developed organisational skills and a demonstrated ability to consistently meet

         deadlines
        The ability to respond positively to change, showing initiative and willingness to focus on

         achieving identified priorities



The successful applicant will be employed under the terms of the Embassy’s Conditions of
Employment at the BB3 level. The salary level for this position is between KRW 47,002,572 and
KRW 50,592,936 per annum depending on skills and experience.

Applicants must be citizens of Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Canada or the United
States of America, who hold or are able to obtain a Korean visa enabling them to work at the
Australian Embassy in Seoul.
Applicants must currently hold, or be able to obtain, an Australian security clearance.
Applicants will need to demonstrate in writing that they meet the selection criteria. Applicants
who fail to address the selection criteria will not be considered.

Please note that all relocation costs are at the expense of the successful applicant - including

travel, shipment of personal effects, visa fees, accommodation and insurance.
In considering this position, applicants should make themselves aware of the Australian taxation

arrangements for Australian citizens working overseas.

* This position is a designated security assessed position.        Applicants must be Australian
citizens or eligible to acquire a valid security clearance. Loss of a security clearance at any time
will lead to termination of employment.

INSTRUCTIONS:

DUTY STATEMENT

  1.   Decide Australian visa applications in accordance with relevant laws and policies.
    2.   Effectively manage individual workloads and contribute to the team’s overall workload

         management.




    3.   Provide client services in accordance with the Client Service Charter and within the
         specific requirements of the Visa Section.

    4.   Undertake tasks and projects to support and assist the PMO and the Management Team.


    5.   Maintain DIAC’s relationships with representatives of host government agencies, local
         airlines, airport staff and with relevant counterparts to promote Australian Government
         interests in countering visa fraud and malpractice, irregular people movement, trafficking

         and smuggling.




    6.   Maintain systems to monitor unusual trends and developments in visa caseloads and

         assist with reporting on integrity activity, performance and caseload trends.




    7.   Assist with regular caseload sampling, testing and quality audits to build profiles and
         other information products to enable staff to target cases of concern and develop and

         implement improvements in caseload management processes and procedures.

    8. Identify and investigate integrity concerns involving ad hoc and organised migration fraud

         which may include liaison with other Posts and security agencies where relevant and

         appropriate.




    9.   Contribute to the identification of training needs and deliver training to DIAC staff.

    10. Other duties as required

        information.
