TOURNAMENT RULES All matches will be played according to the most recent edition of the FIH rulebook, with the following exceptions: Players a. Games will be a 7-a-side format. 6 field players and 1 Goalie. b. Each team may have between 5 and 7 players on the field. (Minimum 5 and Maximum 7). c. One of the 5-7 players must be a goalkeeper. d. Each team must have a designated goalkeeper, who wears a helmet for the entire duration of the match. e. Goalkeepers may play for multiple teams. f. Only players participating in the match can remain in the “Home” or “Away” bench/dug out area of the field. g. A maximum number of 12 players registered per team. h. In the event of identical uniforms by two teams scheduled to play, the team listed 2nd on the schedule will be required to wear another color or use pennies made available by the tournament. Time a. All games will start and end on time. The clock is controlled by a central timer and will start as scheduled. b. Each game is 18 minutes long with NO half time break c. Only a 2-minute change over time between games will be allowed. d. Time will not stop for injury unless it is ABS OULTLEY NECESSARY, at discretion of umpire. e. Each team has a 2-minute grace period after the stadium clock starts to field their team. If after two minutes the team cannot field the minimum number of players required, the game will automatically be a forfeit to the opposing team with a score of 0-3. Scoring Each goal will be recorded by the umpires on the tournament score card. . Points Pool matches will result in 3 points for a win, 1 point for a tie and 0 points for a loss. Final standings will be based on the following criteria. a. Teams will be ranked according to their total number of points. b. Should two or more teams be tied, teams will be ranked according to their respective number of matches won. c. Should two or more teams still be tied, then those teams will be ranked according to their respective goal difference (Goals for minus goals against). A positive goal difference takes precedence over a negative one. d. If two or more teams are still tied, teams will be ranked according to their respective number of goals scored. e. If two or more teams are still tied with the same number of points, same number of matches won and same goal difference, then the result of the match between those teams will determine the ranking of the teams. The winning team(s) will be ranked higher. f. If still tied, the winner will be decided by a coin toss. Notes: BEFORE ANY PLAYER CAN PARTICIPATE IN THIS EVENT THEY MUST ATTEND A 30MIN CLINIC. THE CLINNIC WILL BEGIN PROMPTLY AT 8AM. COACHES PLEASE HAVE YOUR PLAYERS THERE BY THAT TIME. NEW FIH RULES WILL BE PLAYED ie. Self Start rule and free hits going into the circle. Since there will be no defined circle on the field a cone on the side line will be use to indicate the top of the circle. Umpires: The umpires will be the Towson Players. Coaches, please keep this in mind as they will be doing their best to officiate your games. Facilities: Bathrooms will be on the third floor of the Field House. Teams should park in parking lot 20. All trash, including bottles must be removed from your area at the end of the event. The team with the most point at the end of the event will be crowned champions and be presented t-shirts.
