PTSA "WE NOTICED" AWARD
Award from the Classen SAS PTSA Board for Classen Staff.
The purpose is to honor Classen SAS staff who go above and beyond for Classen students,
staff that may otherwise go unnoticed.
February 2012 "We Notice" award:
Tammy Hazelrigg, Secondary Clerk in the Main Office
The "voice" of Classen: Tammy is the friendly voice you hear when you call the main office
at Classen. She is efficient, kind and always very helpful to parents and staff alike. Way to
January 2012 "We Notice" award:
Chris Sturgis, Day Shift Janitor
Always ready with a quick smile and laugh to open doors, clean up messes, take out trash,
clean bathrooms, and is generally at the "beck and call" of Classen Staff during the day for
emergencies. Thank you, Chris!!
December Winner 2011 Richard "Coach" Garrett
Veteran Classen baseball coach and teacher, Coach Garret came out of retirement to
answer a pressing need at Classen SAS. He serves as the administration's eyes and ears
during the MAPS construction, making sure that student's stay where they need to stay
during class time, and go where they need to go in between classes. He lends an ear and a
sturdy shoulder to students in need. Respected and cherished by Classen students and
staff, Coach Garrett helps Classen every day.
November 2011Winner: Vince Miller
You know him as the 6th grade math teacher. Vince Miller receives this award for his
tireless effort to improve the lives of his students, not JUST their mastery of mathematical
skills. He has often identified students with needs that have gone unnoticed by everyone
else (i.e. a student who needs glasses, students who need help for food/clothing for their
families etc). He will identify a need, and then single-mindedly pursue a solution, making
sure that the need is meet. Thank you, Mr. Miller!!

SAS kids lives.
September 2011"We Noticed" Winner:
