					Newsletter - Spring Term 2012


The Starlings Children's Centre

Please note sessions start at 12.30 p.m. so we are unable to let parents into the family room until set up is
complete. Collection is 3.00 p.m. and not 3.15 p.m., so if you are late collecting your child they will be taken
back to the pre-school.

We now have only one session at The Starlings Children’s Centre available on a Thursday afternoon in the
centre starting in April.

We will soon be asking parents their session requirements for September 2012, before new children are
offered spaces. If you already know what you would like, please advise Rachel.

Wednesday, 22 February from 9.30 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. and Friday, 24 February from 1.30 p.m. to 2.30
p.m. - ZooLab (imaginative animal handling workshops). This will be paid for as part of the continuing
fundraising efforts.

Thursday, 22 March from 8.00 p.m. onwards - cake evening at the pre-school. Learn how to bake over a glass of
wine! There will be a charge of £5.00 per person. Ingredients will be supplied and a free glass of wine.

Saturday, 12 May from 2.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. - Mayfair. If you have any toys (party bag size) you would like to
donate, these will be gratefully received. Please bring into the pre-school.

Wednesday, 30 May at 11.45 a.m. and 3.15 p.m. - Jubilee cake sale. We are looking for cake bakers and
sellers to help and would be very grateful for your support.

Week commencing Monday, 25 June - sponsored bounce. Do as many bounces as you can in one minute
on a small trampoline and have lots of fun!

Cake sales - if anyone would be willing to help, please sign up on the board.

Committee Members

Little Acorns is a registered charity and our Committee is run by parent volunteers. The Committee meets
once every half term and although an important business, committee meetings are friendly and informal.

Many children will be leaving the pre-school this July ready to start in their reception class this September.
We will have a couple of vacant positions and are looking to fill these places in due course allowing enough
time for a smooth handover. Specifically we are looking for a fundraiser and someone to manage the fees.

If you are interested in one of these positions, please liaise with either Rachel or Abby Baugh (Chair).

Dad’s Challenge

We highly recommend making the Dad’s Challenge an annual event as it is enjoyable, it provides an
opportunity to meet some people that you would not otherwise meet, and it brings in a lot of money. We are
looking for any volunteers to organise the next event in July - date to be confirmed. Please liaise with either
Rachel or Shirley (fundraising).

Haven Holidays' Fun and Fitness Giveaway to support under 5s

We'd really like children here to benefit from the Haven Holidays' Fun & Fitness Giveaway and we need your
help! We are aiming for the 100% Fit Kids bonus item as well so need everyone to take part to make sure
we get the most from the scheme.

Local Run

Is there anyone out there who’s taking part in a run or thinking about taking part in one and would like to
raise money for the pre-school? If yes, please liaise with Rachel.

Sebastian’s Cafe - Boxed Lunches

Thank you for all your replies, but due to lack of interest in pre-ordering boxed lunches from Sebastian’s
Cafe we have decided not to pursue this opportunity further.
