Hemodialysis Technician Instructor
This position is a classroom instructor of Hemodialysis Technicians at Manatee Technical
( 1) Licensed as Registered Nurse (RN) in Florida.
(1) High school diploma or the equivalent based on general education development tests or
other achievement tests approved by the state board which establishes the equivalency
for a high school diploma.
(2) Minimum of five years experience,
(2) Licensed as Registered Nurse (RN) or Practical Nurse (LPN) in Florida, or Hemodialysis
(3) Six (6) years of successful full-time occupational experience with written verification, BA
with two years validated work experience, or AA/AS with 4 years validated work
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Positive interpersonal skills. Skill in motivating and engaging students. Effective
communication skills (written and oral). Intermediate Computer skills. Ability to organize,
prioritize, and manage time well. Good listening skills. Ability to manage large groups.
Demonstrated proactive orientation. Knowledge of vocational or career and technical education
[CTE] subject area, regulations and codes. In-depth knowledge of equipment necessary or
typically used in vocational/CTE area. Ability to meet on a limited basis responsibilities beyond
the regular school day for career/technical student organizations [SkillsUSA, HOSA, etc.].
Knowledge of research, current trends, and best practices in the vocational/CTE subject area.
Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations, the administration and staff at MTI.

To provide the leadership and vision necessary to create an instructional
atmosphere conducive to highest possible level of student achievement and learning in
the Hemodialysis Technician Program and to assume responsibility for assigned aspects
of the curriculum.

* (1) Promote the highest possible student vocational/CTE achievement.
* (2) Implement and assess the assigned vocational/CTE instructional program at MTI.
* (3) Oversee the student vocational/CTE testing program for the career subject area.
* (4) Establish guidelines for proper student conduct and implement disciplinary procedures
and policies that ensure a safe and orderly environment.
* (5) Ensure instruction curricula is aligned with District, state and MTI goals and
* (6) Establish a vision and mission for the assigned vocational or CTE subject area in
collaboration with stakeholders.
* (7) Maintain and model high standards of professional conduct.
* (8) Set high standards and expectations for self, others, and school.
* (9) Provide recognition and celebration for student, staff, and school accomplishments.
*(10) Provide leadership and direction for developing the best possible learning/teaching
*(11) Keep abreast of trends and best practices in education and field of instruction through
staff development, review of literature, meetings and other means.
*(12) Cooperate with and support the horizontal and vertical articulation of curriculum within
MTI, as well as between MTI, secondary schools, and higher education.

System data entry and scheduling needs.

learning and vocational/CTE achievement.

community evaluation of curriculum.
*(30) Cooperate with and support special projects that may be assigned, or other vocationally
related assignments, for the enhancement of the school, vocational/CTE curriculum, and
*(31) Inventory and ensure the security of MTI property assigned.
*(32) Cooperate with and support procedures implemented to monitor the accurate and timely
completion of data collection and reporting requirements.
*(33) Cooperate with and support the supervision of all extracurricular and vocational/CTE
programs at MTI.
*(34) Model effective listening and positive interaction skills.
*(35) Serve as program advisor for MTI’s HOSA chapter.
*(36) Implement and support School Board of Manatee County and MTI Board of Governors
policy in addition to state statutes and federal regulations as they pertain to MTI.
*(37) Support MTI activities including recruitment, retention, guidance, dropout prevention,
health services, attendance, grading, testing, vocational/CTE certification, and other
*(38) Exercise proactive leadership in promoting the vision and mission of MTI and the
*(39) Maintain the minutes of the program's advisory committee that meets at least two times
per school year.
*(40) Support and work effectively with the School Improvement Plan (SIP) in working toward
*(41) Monitor the progress and provide feedback to stakeholders, throughout the year on the
*(42) Cooperate with and support procedures for participation in school accreditation and
monitor accreditation standards at MTI.
*(43) Participate in District, MTI and Department meetings and other activities to enhance
*(44) Communicate, through the proper channels, to keep the immediate supervisor,
Department Head, Assistant Director, MTI Director, ACT Dept. Director, and
Superintendent informed of impending problems or events of unusual nature.
*(45) Attend MTI-related activities and events including, but not limited to, graduation
ceremonies, HOSA and Skills USA activities, and other related vocational/CTE or
*(46) Use District E-mail application effectively.
*(47) Cooperate with and support District instructional staff in program planning.
*(48) Develop positive MTI/community relations and serve as a representative of the MTI in
the community, and at trade and professional organization activities.
*(49) Participate in developing the District/MTI: Mission, vision, strategic plan, calendar, and
*(50) Attend and participate in staff meetings to discuss policy changes, instructional
programs, potential problems, and resolution of existing problems.
*(51) Promote and market the MTI and its programs to the community.

*(52) Cooperate with and support procedures used in the event of school crisis and/or civil
disobedience and provide leadership in the event of such happenings.
*(53) Make difficult decisions when necessary, including dealing with an ineffective student or

*(55) Act quickly and decisively to stop possible breaches of safety, ineffective procedures, or
interference with instruction or school operations.
*(56) Perform other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.
Medium Work: Lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, and/or exerting up to 20 pounds of force
and/or up to 10 pounds of force as needed to move objects and assist patients. In an emergency,
worker may be required to restrain a physically active individual as a temporary safety
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan.
Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the District.
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on
evaluation of personnel.
PAST WORK EXPERIENCE & INDUSTRY CERTIFICATION:
Valid and current License as Registered Nurse issued by state of Florida .
