Hiring fair slated for June 29 at armory
FRANKFORT, Ky. (June 20, 2005) - Job seekers in Kentuckiana have an
opportunity to meet with employers, like United Parcel Service (UPS), Coca-Cola
Enterprises Inc., Marriott Louisville Downtown, and Summitt Trucking, from Kentucky
and Indiana at the upcoming Greater Louisville Hiring Fair, Wednesday, June 29, from
10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., at the Kentucky National Guard Armory, 2729 Crittenden Drive
in Louisville. Employers will be taking applications and interviewing for a variety of
professional and skilled labor job openings, such as: security guards, communications
installers, truck drivers, computer operators, law mechanics, and welders. The Small
Business Administration will also be available from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., providing
information about starting your own business.
“We are excited about participating in the job fair. We are always looking for
applicants to fill our part-time package handler positions. Presently we are looking to fill
immediate openings in our seasonal package delivery driver and seasonal tractor trailer
driver positions,” stated Mike Werner, employment supervisor with UPS.
“The Greater Louisville Hiring Fair will afford participating employers and job
seekers a chance to meet face-to-face, which often takes weeks or months by
conventional methods. The fair also offers job seekers exposure to multiple jobs, all
under one roof, saving them time and money,” said Office of Employment and Training
Executive Director Penny R. Armstrong.
“The Office of Employment and Training has been providing people for jobs and
jobs for people for more than 70 years. We appreciate this opportunity to join forces with
the Kentucky National Guard, KentuckianaWorks and Indiana Workforce Development
to provide a community service to those individuals who are seeking employment and to
employers who need qualified applicants for their job openings,” Armstrong concluded.
