					           MARJORIE WOODS REYNOLDS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
                     FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
                 Sponsored by Peoria Area Friends of International Students (PAFIS)

Background:
In June of 1978, the Peoria Area Friends of International Students (PAFIS) accepted funds from the estate of
Marjorie Woods Reynolds of Lewistown, Illinois to create an endowed scholarship at Bradley University.
Since then the endowment has grown considerably. Each year since, the earnings from this fund have been
awarded to deserving international students. In the past, the award has ranged from $200 to $500.
Selection Criteria:
The selection of scholarship recipients is made annually by PAFIS from a pool of applicants who meet the
following minimum requirement:
  1. Must hold an I-20 or be a permanent resident of Puerto Rico or the Virgin Islands,
  2. Must have completed 45 undergraduate or 12 graduate semester hours at Bradley University
      with a minimum overall GPA of 3.00 and 3.50 (out of 4.0) respectively;
  3. Must be enrolled as at least a half-time student (6 hours undergraduate/3 hours graduate) at the
     time of the award.
  4. Must be an active participant in PAFIS activities such as the orientation, fall picnic, the harvest dinner,
     friendship partner program, etc.
  5. Must not have received this award during the preceding 12 months.
In making its selection the Scholarship Committee will take into consideration such factors as
involvement in campus organizations, demonstration of leadership and good character.
Application Procedure:
Applicants should submit the following six documents to the chairperson of the PAFIS Scholarship
Committee (Dr. Shyam B. Bhandari, 229 Baker Hall) by 12:00 noon on Monday, October 24, 2011:
1. Application on the back page (Applicants by signing the form, authorize the Scholarship Committee
   to review all grades received in work completed at Bradley University.)
2. Copy of recent transcript
3. Résumé (Which includes position(s) held in student organizations at Bradley University.
4. Typewritten statement stating (A) why you believe you should receive the scholarship (not more than
      15 sentences) and (B) your participation in activities organized by PAFIS.
5. One letter of recommendation from a Bradley faculty member and
6. Other letter of recommendation from a PAFIS friendship partner
NOTE: Incomplete application, missing document or late submission will not be considered.
              The awards will be announced at the annual Harvest Day Dinner on
                                 Sunday, November 13, 2011
