This week we were at Seaford it was a good day for football with a tricky wind. Congratulations to
David Hirst who was playing his 100th game.

First quarter we got smashed in the stoppages and the drive from Seaford out of the middle was
evident with the inclusion of Irving to the tigers midfield. The game went Seaford’s way for most of
the first half they were harder at the ball and played as a better team. After challenging each other
in the main break the bulls made a charge at Seaford and if it was not for poor kicking at goal in
the third we could have been a few goals up at the third quarter time break, but instead we were a
few points down.

In the last quarter we made a charge early and Charalambous put a great goal through and put us
in front, after gaining a lot of momentum it was very disappointing to give them a goal from a 50 m
penalty and then back to the centre and a goal to Irving straight from the clearance. Seaford ran
away with the game after that, the facts are they were harder and stronger than us and more pride
in the jumper.

I thought that Justin Peckett and Bevan Malloy were good again and in our best, but we cannot
keep relying on these guys it's time for someone else to step up and take the game on. Carn the

The match against Seaford was always going to be a test for our team, one we thought we would
pass.

Unfortunately the game did not pan out as we had hoped and we lost by 23 points. There were
several key factors that contributed to the loss. The main factors being our inability to win
contested possession at stoppages and the shift away from our structures and game plan in
pressure situation. We needed to be more creative and unfortunately this continued through the
game.

On the positive side our defence was outstanding again under immense pressure with Ben
Duffield, Jim Martinson and Tim McEachern working hard. It is important that we learn from the
loss and improve against another tough side in Mt Eliza. We believe that if our game plan is
executed properly we will be successful.

There are still many players fighting for a spot in the side, so it is important that we continue to
work hard on the track. GO BULLS – David
Measham

Today was going to be a difficult game at Seaford and the boys had really set themselves for a big
performance.

We started the game well kicking the first 3 goals and our movement from defense to attack was
great in the first 10 minutes. We were struggling around the stoppages as their bigger bodies were
having a huge influence in tight and the run and carry they displayed was crucial in transition and
started to show on the scoreboard. Paxton and Dellar were keeping us in it till the half working
hard in the midfield, and our back 6 stayed tight and repelled several inside 50s from the
opposition.

Clarke, Burnett and red were having great games but we just couldn’t get a forward into the game.
We cracked in during the 3rd quarter and really took it up to them as we went with a small forward
line and Chris Matthews really stood up as our captain and kicked some crucial goals to get us
within 6 points at 3 quarter time. Going into the last we gave it everything as the boys tackled
fierce and applied pressure on the ball carrier but their run got on top and beat us to the finishing
line.

It was a great lesson for the boys and we can focus on parts of our game that will help us beat the
better teams. GO BULLS Mike Triep – U/18s Coach
CLUB 44 - Honoring Justin Groves

Club 44 was struck in honor of the memory of Justin Groves, a player who tragically passed away in his twenties.
Justin was a passionate Karingal person who wore his heart on his sleeve and it is hoped that members of Club 44
share the passion and desire for success that Justin possessed not only for Karingal but in life. The Groves family
has had an association with Karingal for over 30 years and those who have witnessed Justin’s father and brother
David and Paul supporting the club will understand how much victory would have meant to Justin.

The number 44 is symbolic because this is the number Justin wore in all of his games for Karingal. Club 44 retains an
element of exclusivity because of its limited with the Club 44 insignia printed on them.

In 2004 the Groves family struck an annual award to be given at each Presentation Night. The Club 44 award is given
to the player exhibiting the qualities that Justin displayed throughout his career. Courage to perform under adversity,
Determination to succeed against stronger opposition and Tenacity to persist until the result is achieved. In addition to
a trophy the winner can elect to wear jumper number 44 in the following season, his family feels truly touched by the
warmth with which this club has been accepted.

Even with Justin’s passing he continues to have an emotional and tangible influence on the success of the Karingal

The C girls started strongly against Seaford with the first quarter seeing them in front by a goal,
unfortunately Seaford hit their straps in the 2nd quarter to shoot 12-3. Anna had great run through
the centre & Alyce was always an option at WA. We regrouped at half time & went into the third
quarter ready to get back into the game & shot 9-7 but midway we Lost Laura Jack with a bad
ankle injury so with a quick change we finished the third quarter 7 goals down but Brooke had
been amazing in Centre she will be missed over the next few weeks while she is in NZ & Anna
again was great being moved into GA & showing us she can get them in :)
With no bench the girls played well in the last quarter but Seaford were just the better team on the
day.
All in all a huge thanks to all the girls for embracing the Pink Footy/netball day!

With our B girl's going down 41 v 14. Our B Girls got off to a slow start with no goals dropping for
our goalers Kate and Katie in the first quarter. It was just one of those days we couldn't get a goal
or umpire decision to go our way. Emma stepped into goals in the second half and worked as hard
as always to be a option We struggled through the mid court all day but never gave up trying.
Jaime, Angela and Kirsty kept on running and supporting the girls in attack. Our defense of Emily
Williams and Kelly Proud made the Tiger's work for their goals and kept us in the game, they were
our best on court this week.

The A girls also went down to a strong Seaford team 63 v 27 Seaford got the jump on us in the
first quarter out scoring us 20 goals to 4, we also lost Jade to injury at quarter time and were
playing catch up from then on. Bec stood tall in goals shooting 24 of our 27 goals and was
well supported by Sara and Jess. Seaford's tough mid court made our girls working for everything
and gave us more to work on at training track this week. Mel and Rachel had to work hard all day
with a lot of ball coming in fast and were outstanding once again. Another tough ask for the girls
