  The Helen Bader School of Social Welfare requires a total of 27 social science credits for graduation, 15 of which must be in a
single area of concentration from specific courses, listed at www4.uwm.edu/future_students/transfer/upload/social_work.pdf .
Social Science requirement is NOT an admission requirement; you do not have to have all of these courses completed before
you transfer to UWM. You may begin working on this requirement at a UWC campus.

  Students should take one of these courses as IS designation.

The Associate of Arts and Sciences (AAS) Degree will fulfill the university-wide General
Education Requirements (GERs) at the four-year campuses of the UW-System.
For more information about transferring from UW-Waukesha to a four-year campus, visit the Transfer Information
System (TIS) website, www.uwsa.edu/tis/. For more information about Criminal Justice degree in the Helen Bader

APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Submit a UW-System application form and all appropriate transcripts to the
Department of Enrollment Services. If you meet UWM standard admission requirements, you will be admitted
directly into the Helen Bader School of Social Welfare as a "pre-major." APPLICATION PRIORITY DATES: Fall -
August 1; Spring - December 15.
REQUIREMENTS FOR ENTRY INTO THE MAJOR: Complete 58 credits (junior standing) Earn at least a 2.5
cumulative GPA. Any high school math deficiencies must be removed prior to advancement in the major.
FOREIGN LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT: You can complete the foreign language requirement with one of these
options: passing grades at least two years of high school level in a single foreign language prior to enrollment at
UWM; passing grades at least two semesters (min. 6 cr.) of college-level instruction in a single foreign language;
foreign language ability equivalent to two semesters of college-level instruction by means of a satisfactory score on
an approved placement, proficiency, departmental or other examination.
Required course for entry into the major that is not available in the UW Colleges curriculum: Criminal
Justice 150, Intro to Research in Criminal Justice.
