the South Tibet
In the middle area of Qinghai-Tibet plateau, there is an area called "no man's land of north Tibet"
where is often viewed as desolate and devoid of life. The no man's land is in the northwest of Tibet
with an area of 600,000 square meters. The Average altitude is more than 5000 meters. Actually it
is an area between 32 degrees north latitude and 34 degrees north latitude. There is no human
bings except the high mountains, lakes, marsh, grassland and wild animals. In history, some
people had explored here but few of them back. In the local Tibetans' eyes, the north Tibet is a
desert and dangerous region.
In recent years, the Tibetan and Han Chinese geologists have many expeditions here for
increasingly uncovering the mysterious no man's land. The first impression of north Tibet is the
beautiful scenery. The color of the sky and earth are striking contrast. There is no air pollution so
that the transparency of air is very high and every thing can be seen clearly. Sometimes the
distance gives an illusion to eyes that you will feel you are not on the Earth. Scenery here shows a
kind of straightforward beauty which has been far beyond the many previous aesthetic experience.
In another saying, the no man's land is a natural wild animal world. Grassland here is very wide
but short in growth. The Gobi Desert area is larger than grassland. When driving freely on the
earth without highway, you can see groups of wild horses and Tibetan antelope. Other wild
animals like deer, wild yaks are always running into your sights.
Generally speaking, the living condition in north Tibet is very terrible. Oxygen content is very low
and the weather is changeable. Most lakes here are salty lakes that can not drink. When you plan
to have China and Tibet travel, you will have unique experience after you get Lhasa. You can go to
Tibet by train from Beijing to Lhasa or train from Chengdu to Lhasa. There will be a stop on the
grassland of north Tibet. You can also see the beautiful scenery through windows.
