We are all riding the rough rapids in the current economic times.
What is our mission as a not-for-profit publisher?
l Promote the advancement and
dissemination of physics:
l Setting professional standards
for physicists and awarding
professional qualifications;
l Promoting physics through
scientific conferences, education
and science policy advice;
l Scientific publishing and
electronic dissemination of
physics.
Bringing these core values to Latin America
l New Latin American Society agreements are being
made and the first one was just completed with
Uruguay. They include online access for Physics
World.
l Our first Latin American conference was held in Sao
Paulo in February, in conjunction with the Brazilian
government, local universities and the Royal Society
of Chemistry.
l A dedicated IOP webpage for Latin America.
