The purpose of this form is to report on Student Chapter activities over the previous year. The report provides a
useful medium to document the status and progress of individual chapters. Annual Reports are used to evaluate
applications for SEG support and to keep Student Chapter information up-to-date on SEG website. Please
provide a summary of Student Chapter activities in a concise form as suggested below. Description of programs
may be supported by a limited number of photographs and figures in a format appropriate for publishing on our
website.

Imperial College Student SEG Chapter Seminar Series - October, 2008 – June, 2008

           • Barry Stoffell – Exploration Geologist, Rio Tinto – Diamonds in Mauritania

           • David Holder – Exploration Geologist, Zamin Resources – Looking for Gold in
               Brazil

           Stephen F Cox – Department of Earth & Marine Sciences and Research School of
               Earth Sciences, The Australian National University – The dynamics of coupling
               between deformation and fluid flow in the Earth's crust: implications for ore
               genesis

6 members of the student chapter attended the FINEX Conference in September, at the Royal
Geological Society, London. The event consisted of two days of seminars on financial aspects of
mining geology and insights into existing deposits and methods, including an informative lecture
by Richard Sillitoe.

A field trip to Scandanivia is being planned for the Easter holidays, to explore a number of mines
