1. In general, the UCI policy Sec. 714-18 “Computer and Network Use Policy” applies in the networking lab at Calit2. In addition: A. Users are responsible to install their own operation systems and applications on their leased computers. The networking lab does not support software installation or maintenance except for providing suggestions. B. The computers are for research purposes only. Personal usage must be limited as much as possible. C. Computers shall not be subleased, or be removed from the indicated installation locations. D. Improper use of computers may result in revocation of the use of the computers and/or network lab space. E. The leasing students and/or faculty are responsible for any legal complications due to the improper use of the leased computers. F. The administration policies may change as necessary from time to time whenever security concerns are moderated and resolved. G. Coordination is carried out between networking lab users. The networking lab is not responsible for coordination mistakes or interruption to the ongoing computing on computers that are not leased by anyone in the networking lab. H. Hardware modification of the computers requires written consent by the sponsoring faculty member and the lab manager through Emails or hardcopies.
