Associate Editor (commissioning) in Computer Science

We have a vacancy in our UK office, located in Guildford, Surrey for an Associate Editor in Computer Science. The ideal candidate will have a degree in a science-related subject and preferably in Maths, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, etc, and at least one year’s experience in scientific, technical and medical publishing. Commercial acumen and a good understanding of academic markets are essential. The book programme is international in nature and travel is an integral part of the position. You should have an eye for detail, the ability to work under your own initiative and be a good communicator with the ability to liaise on all levels with tact and diplomacy. You will be professional, outgoing and confident and have excellent organisation skills. Your responsibilities will include:
Supporting the Editors to meet global acquisition targets Assisting the Editors in acquiring and evaluating new proposals Working with the Editors on strategic programme development including undertaking research into new subject areas Overseeing and developing reviewer networks Regular contact with authors and editors Under supervision, taking responsibility for specific parts of the programme Providing support to the Editors for in-house meetings and programme conferences Supervision of junior colleagues Liaising with sales and marketing departments, with particular reference to marketing and promotional campaigns for high profile products Deputising for Editors when required .
