TNBA LEAGUE RULES 2011/2012

This league will bowl 32 weeks, starting September 8, 2011 and ending on April 19, 2012. The final
awards and prize fund will be distributed on April 26, 2012. This league will start practice at 6:15 pm and
start bowling for scores at 6:30 pm. This league will not bowl on November 24, 2010. This league will
bowl 2 position rounds, 1 on week 16 (December 29, 2011) and week 32(April 19, 2012). Total pins and
games will be zeroed at the end of the first position round.
This league will consist of 16 teams. Each team will have 4 members, with a maximum team roster of 6
bowlers. This league will be a mixed league. Each team must have at least 1 member of the opposite
gender. New members may not be added the last 2 weeks of the season or on the week of a position
round. A new member may be added at any time to take the place of a vacant, except on the week of a
position round or the last 2 weeks. When a bowler takes the place of a vacant or dropped bowler, the
bowler must pay the prize fund and secretary/treasurer fees for the weeks missed or not paid the new
bowler will receive the team prize fund from that date forward. Beginning the third week, the team
must pay the prize fund and secretary/treasurer fee for the vacant position until the position is filled. No
team can have more than one (1) professional card carrying member on the roster or substitute at the

Team captains and the elected officers are the Board of Directors and are responsible for business of the
This league will be certified with USBC and TNBA. All certification fees must be paid the first night of
bowling. USBCs certification fee is $21.00. Bowlers who are 60 years of age or older as of August 1, 2011
will pay $17.00 for USBC certification. TNBA Certification fee is $20 for everyone. The secretary of this
league must have all certification fees and paperwork submitted to the local association and TNBA
Headquarters within 30 days from the start of the league. If this is not done, any person bowling an
honor score will not be eligible to receive the award.
The president will appoint a prize fund committee by the third week (September 22) of bowling,
consisting of 3 members to draft 3 prize fund lists. The prize fund lists will be voted on by the league
members no later than the fifth week (October 6th) of bowling. After the league members have selected
a prize fund by majority vote, the secretary will provide a copy to each team captain. An individual must
bowl a minimum of 2/3 of the league schedule (68 games) to be eligible for any individual award and
may only qualify for one. This does not include “high average” or “most improved”. If you qualify for
more than one award, the order of precedence for team and individual awards are (1) HIGH SERIES
HANDICAP, (2) HIGH SERIES SCRATCH, (3)HIGH GAME HANDICAP, and (4)HIGH GAME SCRATCH. If there
is a tie for an individual award, the prize money for the award will be split. In the event of a tie for first
place of either half, a 3 games series will be bowled with total pins plus handicap to determine the
winner. Should a tie still exist, and additional 10 frames including handicap will be bowled. All tie
breakers must be bowled the last night of that half.** The league championship will be bowled
immediately following play the last night of the league or the following week if time does not permit.
The roll-off will consist of a best-of-3 game series to include handicap. Should a tie exist, an additional
10 frames including handicap will be bowled and a winner is determined. **Should the same team win
both halves, that team is automatically declared the league champion and awarded the league roll off
The league fees will be per week: Lineage: $7.50, Secretary/Treasurer: $.35, Prize Fund: $7.15, TOTAL:
$15.00 per person per week. The team captains are responsible for collecting the bowling fees from
their team each week and insuring that the envelope is completed properly. The envelopes must be
turned in to the secretary before the end of the first game. A bowler cannot be behind in league fees
for more than 2 weeks. The third week the bowler cannot bowl and a vacant score will be used. The
team must pay the prize fund and secretary/treasury fees until the bowler returns or vacancy is filled.
The last two weeks of bowling must be prepaid by the 5th week of bowling (October 6). A 2 week notice
will be given to the secretary if a bowler withdraws for the league and the bowler is responsible for the
bowling fees for those 2 weeks. The league fees will be deposited each week with Ace Bowling Center’s
League Deposit Service. The President will be responsible for auditing the account once a month.
Withdrawals from this account shall be made only with the signatures of the President and
Secretary/Treasurer. *If the bowler returns, he/she must reimburse the team for monies paid. The
team receives complete prize fund for the full team.
The league will assess a $35 handling fee above the amount of the check. This amount includes fees
charged by the Ace Bowling Center League Deposit Services for all returned checks. Once a league
member has one NSF check returned, that member will not be allowed to pay league fees with a
personal check, only cash or money order.
All bowlers will establish an average with the first 3 consecutive games bowled.
Handicap will be 90% of the difference between the bowler’s average and 210.
A vacancy score of 120 and a handicap of 81 will be used for a vacant position.
The league wins and losses will be based on an 8 point system per week. There will be 2 points for each
game and 2 points for total series.
A legal line-up will consist of 2 regular members from the team starting before the completion of the
first frame of any game. If a legal line-up is not present that team will forfeit each game missed. The
team present must bowl 3 games each within 40 pins of their team average to win points.
A bowler may start a game as long as the 4th frame of the game in progress has not started. (Per game).
A late bowler or substitute can not constitute a legal line-up.
The bowlers average less 10 pins plus handicap and will be used when a bowler is absent and a sub is

When bowling unopposed or a forfeit, a team must bowl within 40 pins of their team average to win
points. A vacant team cannot win points.
Substitutes will be permitted. All subs must be sanctioned with USBC and TNBA. When there are two
bowlers absent and only one sub, the sub must bowl in the bowler’s position that has the most games
bowled. Substitutes will not have to be of the same gender. The team must still have one member of
the opposite gender or absent score will be used. Substitutes will not be eligible for league awards.
Substitutes will not be able to bowl during a position round or a roll-off. Substitutes cannot be used
during the last 2 weeks of the first half or the last two weeks of the season.
All post and Pre-Bowls must be arranged with the President, Vice-President, or Secretary 24 hours prior
to the time to bowl. The league officer will make the appointment with the counter. All team members
must bowl together and the opposing team must be notified of the post or pre-bowl.*A print out from
the counter must be obtained and turned into the counter with the recap sheet. There will be no Pre or
Post bowling on a position round or roll off. Scores can be given to the opposing team at any time
requested. *High score awards can be earned when pre or post bowling unopposed (11 in a row/299 or
less/ 300 game/800-900) others are awarded.
**50/50 tickets will be sold each week. A designated person will sell tickets for each half. This individual
will be paid $50 (each half) from the 50/50 tickets.
***Each bowler is allowed only one ball on the ball return.
