   Policy & Procedure
         Manual

Pennsylvania Society For Respiratory Care
    Policy & Procedure Manual
• A Policy should outline the overall rules,
reason, and purpose of the program and
    service.

• A Procedure should be the actual step by
step instructions on how to successfully
deliver the service, including who is
responsible for the delivery of each part.
    Policy & Procedure Manual
• A detailed policy and procedure manual
    should be developed so everyone
    understands their role and responsibilities
in order to provide a consistent product.

• In theory, someone should be able to pick
up your P&P manual and know how to
    complete the procedure.
Why You Need A P&P Manual….
1. Policies are spelled out in black & white.

2. Provides documentation to know WHO is
   responsible for implementing and/or
   enforcing a particular policy.

3. Provides documented workflow.

         Take Home Notes…..
2. Review, add, edit, and delete policies on an
ongoing basis. Review and update entire
   manual annually

3. Re-visit affiliate’s Mission and Vision
statements and simplify as much as possible.
Develop strategies to carry out the mission and
   vision.
