NYRA Minutes – July 6, 2011 - Meeting at the Sports and Learning Center
In attendance: Board Members – Stacy Jordan, Mark Geiser, Sandi Spanier, Jen Benko, Shane Breon, Garry
Stine, Joe Spanier, Chris Weber, Ryan VanKirk, Dave Goretski, Jennifer Solorzano, Craig Hertzog, Tammy Long
Missing – Dawn McKay, BJ Latchaw, Jen McNair, Karen Fitterling,
Treasurer – Current balances are as follows: Checking Account - $13,063.44, Savings Account - $1,607.54, and
Money Market Account - $9,294.86. There was one check from Registration that has bounced, and Sandi
Spanier is contacting the family.
President – Stacy Jordan has renewed the Emergency Services Contract for the 2011 season. Also, the school
contract has been finalized for all home games as well as possible Play Off games. There are no issues with
Varsity games this season.
VP of Football – Mark Geiser reported that we need to water the new grass that was planted at the Practice
Fields at South Mountain. A watering schedule has been worked out for the next couple days.
The next CFA meeting is scheduled for Monday, July 11th. Chris Weber and Joe Spanier will attend.
Football Camp will run from Monday, July 25th through Wednesday, July 27th, and the Punt, Pass, Kick
Tournament will be held Thursday, July, 28th. Ryan VanKirk will put an ad in the Dillsburg Banner. Jennifer
Solorzano will send an e-mail to have watermelons donated for camp again this year.
VP of Cheer – Jen Benko announced that the uniforms have been embroidered, and she will pick them up
tomorrow. Some of the leggings and turtlenecks are on backorder, but should be in by the end of July.
She would like to purchase mats for the girls to use for stunting and tumbling. The cost per mat is $135 and she
would like to have four, one for each squad. Mark made a motion to purchase the mats. Garry seconded it,
Fundraiser – We are looking into having a Chicken BBQ sale on Saturday, August 20th. Other fundraisers Karen
Fitterling is considering are Candy Bar Sale, Sub Sale, Holiday Sale with home consultants such as Pampered Chef
and Thirty One and a possible Poker Night.
Spirit – Logan Martin is the winner of the T Shirt design. He will be announced at the first home game. We are
also kicking off a spirit wear sale and will have a representative at practice for embroidery.
Stacy Jordan announced that due to the limited sizes at GTM she no longer has them on hold. Chris Weber was
able to get Riddel to match the price of Jerseys at $28.00 each, and they will do repairs for the first 5 years. We
would need to put $3,000 down to place the order. He will ask Riddel to provide us with a sample and ask how
long the offer is good for.
Field Maintenance at South Mountain will take place Saturday, July 9th for tree removal and line painting will
occur on July 23rd. The rain date for line painting is July 30th.
Garry Stine announced that the Volunteer Program is going well and the web site is about 40% filled.
Jen Solorzano will purchase first aid emergency kits for football practices. They will include flashlights, splints,
CPR masks, tape and ice packs. Jen Benko will purchase two smaller kits for the Cheerleading squads to share.
A second unadvertised date for Equipment Hand Outs will be Sunday, July 24th at 6 pm. Footballs and
Mouthpieces have been ordered.
The equipment hand out schedule on Saturday, July 16th will be as follows: Smurf 9:00-10:30, Midget 10:30-
11:30, Pony 11:30-12:30, and Pee Wee 12:30-1:30. We will meet at the SLC at 6:30 Friday evening for
organization and preparation.
The schedule for pictures on Saturday, August 6th as follows: Midget 9:00, Pony 10:00, PeeWee 11:00 and Smurf
12:00. Sandi will distribute picture information and forms at Equipment handouts.
It has been suggested that we include a mass e-mail with the ‘Call em All’ program. The first RoboCall will go out
Friday, July 15th announcing equipment hand outs. Mark will put together an e-mail for parents with
information regarding Impact Test and Passwords, Equipment Handouts, Camp, and the Volunteer Program. He
will forward it to the board and coaches will be responsible for passing it along to parents.
Stacy is working on the program for the 2011 season. She will put a letter together for local businesses
regarding sponsorship. Also, if you have any pictures please forward them to her.
Jen Benko announced that Dawn McKay is quitting the board due to her coaching responsibilities at the Varsity
Level. She will continue to coach the Midget Cheerleaders for the 2011 season.
Mark Geiser asked for approval for the following coaches: Tim Wagner, Craig Hertzog, and Charles Fox. Dave
made a motion to approve the coaches, Joe seconded it. Motion carried. He has not heard anything from Mike
Myers, Brad Hammer, and Gary Fanus about coaching this year.
