Design Management in the Architectural Engineering and Construction Sector University of São Paulo, Brazil, 4-8 November 2008 Aim
This conference looks at how design management is performed in the Architectural, Engineering and Construction (AEC) sectors around the world - the main approaches and techniques, the challenges and opportunities – in an attempt to map and analyse “best in class” approaches. Documented cases from industry demonstrating best practice, recently completed PhDs and research projects are welcome. All papers will be subject to a double blind refereeing process. Accepted papers will be published in a book of proceedings. The conference will be held in parallel with the 8th Brazilian Workshop on Building Design Management, with interconnecting sessions.

Submission and schedule
Abstracts/expressions of interest should be written in English, be around 200 words long and identify the theme area(s) if applicable. The abstract should clearly state the nature of the contribution and identify the status of the work being reported. Papers should be between 4000 and 5000 words. All submissions of interest/abstracts should be send by E-mail, as an MS Word attachment, to Dr. Matthijs Prins (Prins@bk.tudelft.nl) and cc to Dr. Ad den Otter (a.f.h.j.d.otter@tue.nl) before the deadline. Please remember to include your correct email address, postal address, and affiliation. Papers will be published in refereed proceedings. Following the conference a select number of authors will be invited to revise their papers for publication in a special edition of Architectural Engineering & Design Management. Conference venue, travel-information, excursions and so on
The conference will take place at São Paulo, Brazil, in the Campus of the University of São Paulo. Sao Paulo is not the kind of city that you will fall in love with at first sight. It will take you a while to assimilate the impact that the city will have on you! Sao Paulo is the kind of Metropolis that grows in you as you get to know it better, and learn how to admire its grandiousness! Sao Paulo has a spell that no one knows how to explain, a spell so strong that until this day attracts immigrants, people from all over the world that settle there and seem to never get enough of this wonderful city! Sao Paulo City never sleeps. There you can find from gyms to bookstores opened 24hrs a day. This city also provides its visitors with thousands of restaurants, stores, bars, and pubs. The city's commerce is very vibrant. There are 32 malls, countless department stores, and designer boutiques. There are also several street fairs, and art exhibits throughout the city. There are a lot of opportunities for leisure and tourist activities before and after the conference, and there will be a partners programme during the conference.
