                    Overview
• Administers and distributes funds for local
  initiatives in all 46 counties through 14
  Community Action Agencies that are
  designed to appreciably impact the causes
  of poverty
• Programs sustain the entire range of life
  necessities, including health care,
  education, employment, and housing
  assistance
Office of Economic Opportunity Programs
• The Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) provides
  an array of funding for local community initiatives, including
  assistance for program-eligible households in areas such as
  education, employment, emergencies, housing, nutrition and
  health care.
• Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program
  (LIHEAP) Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program
  (LIHEAP) provides home energy assistance to help eligible
  low-income households meet their home heating and/or
  cooling needs.
• General Emergency Assistance Program (GEAP) The
  Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) also provides
  assistance with general emergencies to program-eligible
  households in areas such as utility bills, food, clothing and
  medical services.
 Office of Economic Opportunity Programs
• Emergency Shelter Grant Program (ESGP) is a
  competitive grant issued each year to community-based
  shelters and traditional housing facilities; non-profit
  organizations that provide housing and counseling
  assistance to the state's homeless population and to
  those at-risk of becoming homeless.
• Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP)
  provides home weatherization assistance to improve the
  quality of life for low-income families, particularly for
  the elderly, people with disabilities and children by
  improving the energy efficiency of their homes while
  ensuring their health and safety.
 Online Application Project Scope
• Goal: Develop a web-based application for
  services accessible by all South Carolinians.
  ▫ Target most vulnerable populations (Elderly,
    Disabled and Households with children under age
    6) and areas

• Proposal: Establish a partnership with the State
  Library system to provide Internet access for
  prospective clients throughout South Carolina
