                                        JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: TEACHER LEADER

                                 GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

Under limited supervision, performs highly responsible mentor and leadership work to carry
out school system mission and goals for the Teacher Leader Cohort (TLC). Work involves
working with both beginning and veteran teachers to improve student learning, building
successful instructional teams within grade levels and schools, and assessing current
programming and making program recommendations. The employee is responsible for
implementing the training modules and providing instruction to future teacher leaders. The
employee will report to the principal of the designated school. A three-year commitment is
required to be a part of this program.

                            SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Teaches in a regular classroom and models using effective instructional strategies.

Provides leadership and builds teams within school and grade levels.

Provides instructional support for beginning and veteran teachers.

Assists teachers with schedules, assessments, planning and implementing differentiated lessons
that maximizes resources, and reflects researched based practices.

Works collaboratively with Central Office Staff, School Administration, Instructional Coaches,
and Teachers.

Communicates effectively with supervisors concerning pertinent aspects of the TLC initiative.

Works in a leadership capacity as part of teams working to increase teacher effectiveness and
student achievement.

Leads and/or participates in professional development opportunities for improved job
performance.

Improves leadership and team building skills through self-initiated professional activities.
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Carries out duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Performs other related work as required.

                            MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Teacher Leaders must have a minimum of four years of successful teaching experience.
Candidates must possess excellent communication and team building skills. Instructional
proficiency will be measured through student growth and proficiency on End of Grade Test
and/or other school/system assessments. Prior experience as leaders within the school
environment is required. Teacher Leaders must be able to work under minimal supervision.
Prior experience working with adult learners is preferred.
