TICKETS…for CARNIVAL go on sale starting Thursday, May 15th. If you buy your tickets early, for each $10 in tickets
you buy you will receive $1 in tickets FREE! Tickets will be on sale in the FRONT OF THE SCHOOL as follows:

CALLING ALL BAKERS!...The Bake Sale is a wonderful part of the Carnival! We need you all to bake/buy your
favorite goodies. Some ideas are.... cookies, donuts, cupcakes, brownies, rice crispy treats, muffins, and chocolate covered
pretzels. Nothing with nuts "we are a nut free school," and nothing that needs a utensil (ex. flan). Please bring your baked
goods on Friday, May 16th to the cafeteria or Saturday, May 17th to the Bake Sale Booth. Want to work a shift? Let us

LAST WEEK TO BRING IN DONATIONS…We’re collecting new and used Books, CD’s, Video’s, DVD’s and
Computer Games all to be sold in the booth at the Carnival at the Family Entertainment Booth on May17th. Please go
through your closets/bookshelves and bring in your donations. This booth has always been a huge success thanks to all
your generous donations! We’ve placed a large red plastic bin in the CAFETERIA to collect all your stuff! Please bring

SIGN FOR YOUR SHIFT.... and invite three other parents to do it too! The ten classes with the largest number of
volunteers will be able to choose their booth.

JOGATHON DEADLINE EXTENSION…The final date to drop off Jogathon donations has been extended to Monday,
May 12th, Bring your donations to the office. Please remember to make sure each student turns in their own sponsor and
prize detail form. Also a special thanks to Il Forno Caffe our new water bottle sponsor.
SCIENCE EXPO WORKSHOP…next Tuesday, May 13th, from 3:00-4:00, in the cafeteria. Everyone's welcome!
We'll explore project ideas and the scientific method. Snacks will be provided!
TOWELS AND TREATS PROJECT…Room 74 students will sponsor our second annual community service project
called Towels and Treats. Please bring your donations of clean towels, blankets, dog and cat treats, laundry detergent and
vinegar (to clean rabbit cages) to the Grant main office or Room 74 during the week of May 12-16. The animals at the
Santa Monica and West Los Angeles Animal Shelters thank you! .
SCIENCE EXPO!...It's the perfect time to identify an interesting question to experiment upon for the Science Expo,
which is May 29th. The first Science Expo workshop is Tuesday, May 13th 3:00-4:00. Children are welcome to attend
with or without parents, and snacks will be provided. Please RSVP by dropping the form in the office. Thanks!
ATTENTION GECKO SHOPPERS…we are now entering the final two weeks of the School Cents Program. Please
gather all receipts from any business establishment at the Westside Pavilion and bring them to the Guest Services Desk in
the mall for credit or leave them in our school office and we will log them for you. Thank you!
ANOTHER JOGATHON “THANK YOU”… A BIG THANK YOU to Richard Turk for securing a donation of 1,000
bottles of Arrowhead water from Nestle Waters and an even BIGGER THANK YOU to Don Kennedy for picking it up
and delivering to our school.
