Audit of patients receiving rituximab
1. Patient had DAS 28 Score prior to first infusion Yes / No
2. Patient had risk factors for Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C assessed prior to commencing
rituximab Yes / No
3. Patient had DAS 28 Score recorded 16 - 24 weeks after rituximab infusion Yes/ No
4. For patient having second or subsequent rituximab infusion - patient has had
improvement in DAS 28 of at least 1.2 between baseline DAS28 score and score at 16 -
24 weeks Yes / No
5. Patient had immunogolobulins measured and recorded prior to first rituximab infusion

6. Patient had immunoglobulins measured and recorded prior to each subsequent
rituximab infusion Yes / No
7. Record that patient has had or that the patient/patient’s GP had been advised of the
need for pneumoccocus vaccination prior to rituxumab infusions

Relevant statements from guidelines
1. Patients being retreated with rituximab have had assessment of response between 16
weeks and 24 weeks after first treatment and showed at least moderate EULAR response
(at least 1.2 improvement in DAS28 score from pre-treatment score)
2. Immunoglobulins should be checked before rituximab infusions and 4 - 6 months after
each treatment.
3. Patients who have not already had pneumococcus vaccination should have this 4 - 6
weeks prior to first rituximab infusion
4. Patients have influenza vaccination annually
5. Patients commencing rituximab should have screening for risk factors for hepatitis B
and Hepatitis C
