    CURRENT STATUS OF AGRICULTURE
               IN DELHI
• Delhi is primarily a City State and has limited land under Agriculture and
shrinking fast due to rapid urbanization, industrialization and land use for
other non-agriculture purposes, the total cropped has continuously been
declining. Under such condition, it is not possible to increase the area,
hence there is scope to increase the production and productivity under
agri-horticultural crops. The position over the last decade in respect of
availability of land for cultivation is as under :
Year Total Cropped Area in Hectares
     1990-91 76,239
     2000-01 52,816
     2004-05 41,508
• As per Delhi Master Plan 2021 published by D.D.A., the total area
earmarked for Delhi would be available to the extent of 11.000 hect. for
agri.-horticulture, green belt, dairy etc. by the year 2020-21.
                                                                           Contd.
