To provide effective, high quality and evidenced based services to people affected by alcohol
misuse within the overall treatment system.


To work as an integral member of the Horizon Treatment Service in the identification,
engagement, re-engagement and case management of individuals affected by alcohol misuse.
To develop, implement, co-ordinate and evaluate packages of care and support with service
users and others involved to empower them to realise and achieve their full potential.


To support the identification and engagement of potential service users, undertaking triage
assessments to identify, inform and prioritise the immediate and potential ongoing needs,
providing appropriate advice, information and brief intervention, signposting and facilitating
access to ADS and other Horizon and local services as required.

To undertake comprehensive assessments including risk and health issues. Negotiate with the
client a package of care in response to their identified needs, facilitating collaborative working
with others where appropriate and with informed consent, ensuring that the care plan is
effectively coordinated, regularly reviewed and evaluated.

To utilise a range of evidence based interventions, delivered through individual and group work
in a range of settings, empowering and encouraging clients to engage with services and
achieve and sustain positive outcomes.

To provide and/or facilitate access to services which are responsive to the needs of the
families and friends of alcohol misusers.

To promote the involvement of clients and their significant others in the design, development
and delivery of services.

To provide advice, support and consultancy to partner agencies working with people affected
by alcohol misuse, facilitating joint working with clients where appropriate.

To maintain accurate, comprehensive and up-to-date client records, ensuring all necessary
information is entered onto client information systems.

To comply with all ADS policies and procedures; safeguarding children and vulnerable adults
protocols and legislative requirements, contributing to case conferences, reviews and
investigations as required in line with ADS, and where appropriate, external processes.

To actively engage in ongoing personal and professional development, making full use of
supervision, appraisal and learning opportunities.

To act at all times to promote equality and diversity ensuring inclusive and integrated services.

To be an active participant in ADS groups, meetings and events.

To undertake any other duties appropriate to the role as required by the Service Manager or
Area Director.


To work with clients in a variety of settings to ensure maximum engagement and re-
engagement with alcohol treatment services, particularly in relation to clients who have a
history of erratic or non engagement with treatment services, or who have dropped-out of
