									Area code 702
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

North American area code 702 is a NANP telephone code, which is
currently used only in southernmost Nevada (Clark County, including Las
Vegas). 702 is among the codes established in October 1947; it originally
covered all of Nevada. As a result of the increased growth of the Las
Vegas area, on December 12, 1998, most of Nevada, including Reno and
Carson City, moved to area code 775.
As of July 2012, the 702 code is again running low on telephone prefixes;
however, it is likely Nevada's third area code, yet to be announced, will
be an overlay.
The R&B trio 702 takes its name from the area code.
The area code was mentioned in Sir Mix-a-lot's 1996 song "Jump on It",
and in Ludacris's 2001 single "Area Codes".
