It is extremely important for you to be at school, but I am aware that there are times
when you may be absent. For every day absent you will be given two days to make up the
work for full credit. It is your responsibility to pick up your missed work. When absent,
your grade may appear as an NHI (not handed in) or ABS (absent). This will average into
your grade report as a zero, but only until you make up the assignment within the allotted
time and turn it in to my mailbox. Then, you will receive full credit for the assignment.
For missing assignments, you will be given an NHI. This averages into your grade
as a zero. It will remain a zero until you complete the assignment and turn it in. Any
assignment not completed on time will follow the general rule of 10 points being deducted
each day for three days. After the third day, late work will not be accepted and will result in
a 0 for that assignment. Tutoring will be available on Wednesday mornings at 8:15.
Students will need a pass prior to coming in.
Grades are available on Parent Portal 24/7. Eighth grade is a crucial year. Test
average, aptitude, and work ethic will all play a major role in recommendations for high
school courses. Therefore, it is imperative that you be present, organized, have a daily study
time, and complete all assignments. All students will be required to hand in neat,
grammatically correct complete typed or written assignments.
Science is a rigorous curriculum and the students will be expected to accept the
challenge. My goal is to prepare all students for success in their high school placement
classes and to become a productive adult who contributes to society.
