range of products, mechanical engineers will always be needed in a wide range of industries, with an employment
growth of over 6% during the next 10 years. The development of technologies in the fields of biotechnology,
materials science and nanotechnology are expected to contribute to the employment growth even more. Within
recent years, a variety of jobs have paid an average yearly salary of $50,000 for individuals holding a bachelor's
degree. Individuals holding a master degree however, have been claiming an average of $59,000 per year while
mechanical engineers with doctorate degrees have been working jobs providing a wage of more than $68,000 per
year. Some of the best paid jobs for mechanical engineers can be found in the manufacturing industry and it
provides an average of $71,000 per year for certified mechanical engineers while the motor vehicles and equipment
industry provides an even higher wage of almost $73,000 per year. The Federal government however, features jobs
paying a yearly salary of $68,000 for certified mechanical engineers, but the number of jobs provided by the federal
government is significantly greater than other employers. An important aspect about holding a degree in mechanical
engineering is the fact that job opportunities can be found in various working environments, mainly because of the
versatile skills acquired by mechanical engineers during their rigorous training.
