II. Materials

              A. Test Device (from OraQuick Advance Rapid HIV 1 / 2 Antibody Test
                 Kit)

              C. Optional: Disposable latex gloves (or non-latex if employee and/or client

abrasions, or dermatitis) should wear gloves when performing oral fluid
                 testing.

III. Procedure

              A. Open the OraQuick  Advance pouch. Have the client remove the Test
Device paddle. Do not allow the client to touch the Flat Pad. Check the
pouch to make sure that an Absorbent Packet was included with the
device. If no Absorbent Packet is present, discard that Test Device

              C. Do not allow the client to swab the roof of the mouth, the inside of the
                 cheek, or the tongue.
              D. The Test Device paddle is now ready to be inserted into the test vial. If
the Test Device paddle must be carried to the test area, place it inside
either the Pouch or a plastic zip lock bag for safe transporting. (Discard

Activity such as eating, drinking, or smoking tobacco more than 5 minutes prior to
testing does not appear to have any effect on the results.
