You child may come home and share that Mrs. McGeorge lost her husband yesterday. Mr. McGeorge
had experienced health issues for several years. We ask that you keep Mrs. McGeorge and her family in
your thoughts. We will provide service information to you when it is released.
9TH Grade Football Game Date Change
Please note: The 9th grade football game originally scheduled for Thursday, September 22nd at 4:00
p.m. has been rescheduled to October 19th at 6:00 p.m.
The seventh grade is receiving REAL instruction on Fridays in their PE classes. REAL is the Junior High
School version of DARE. At this age the curriculum focuses on peer pressure, making good decisions and
bullying. Officer Beckham from the Fort Leavenworth Civilian Police is the instructor. These classes will
continue through the first semester.
All students will be involved in the Pillars of Character information provided through our agendas.
Lessons have been developed by Dr. Boyce and Mrs. Vardeman to promote discussion about the
attributes of character. The first lesson was Monday and our staff reports that good conversation took
Site Council met Wednesday, September 14th. Minutes of the meeting can be found on the Patton
website. Mrs. Mary Yandura was selected as Chairperson and Kim Guthrie was selected as Secretary.
Site Council meets the second Tuesday of each month at 2:00.
National Jr. Honor Society and Site Council sponsor the concession stand at football games and other
activities. Adult volunteers are needed to assist with this activity. Mrs. Debbie Pixley-Clark heads up this
activity. Please contact the school office and let us know when you can help.
Patton International Speaker Series
International officers from CGSC present a monthly program about the culture of their country and how
it compares to ours. This is an activity scheduled for ninth graders and other grades as space allows. The
first program was Tuesday. LTC Paul in den Bosch educated our students about life in The Netherlands.
He provided an effective power point and question answer session that captivated the students. One
thing our students learned was how lucky they are to get drivers licenses in Kansas.
Our next program is October 13th. COL Jorge Gatica will be sharing about the culture of Chile.
Community members are invited to attend.
7th & 8th Grade Girls Basketball
Signup for 7th and 8th grade girls basketball is this week. 7th and 8th graders can sign up in the locker
room and 8th graders can also signup in the Tech Lab. The mandatory parent meeting will be on
September 29, 2011 at 5:00pm.
