"Physical Education Grading Policy and Participation Rubric"
Bogota Jr/Sr High School Physical Education Grading Policy and Participation Rubric The Jr/Sr high school’s grading policy is based on the guidelines set by forth by the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards. The guidelines are as follows: ● 2.1 Wellness ● 2.4 Human Relationships and Sexuality ● 2.2 Integrated Skills ● 2.5 Motor Skill Development ● 2.3 Drugs and Medicines ● 2.6 Fitness Each student will be assessed on a 6-point scale system, graded on a daily basis. Students are assessed based on their participation level, ability to comprehend and master motor skills and general classroom regulations. Participation & Performance of Skills (Students can achieve up to three points per day for their participation during activities) 3 points Performs at a high level for the duration of the activity with no prompting needed 2 points Performs at a moderate level for the duration of the activity with minimal prompting 1 point Performs at a minimal level for the duration of the activity and needs constant prompting 0 points Does not participate in the class activity at all Responsible Behavior (Students can achieve one point per day for each of the following criteria) 1 point Is respectful of class routines and procedures as well as towards classmates and teachers 1 point Is on time for class 1 point Is prepared for class including a solid colored tee shirt, Bogota shirt, shorts or sweatpants and sneakers Cognitive Assessment Cognitive assessment will include but not be limited to the students’ mastery and understanding of movement skills and strategies necessary for each activity, as well as the basic rules and regulations. PE Rubric Grading Scale Marking period grades are determined by adding up the total points achieved in skill participation and class behavior. The total is then applied to the scale shown below for an alphabetic and numeric grade. This portion of their grade is worth 80%. Written assessment scores are averaged throughout the marking period and account for 10% of their grade. Physical fitness scores are totaled using the normative data chart and accounts for the remaining 10% of their marking period grade.
