PROJECT MANAGEMENT GUIDE ORGANIZATIONAL VISION What are they An organizational vision provides information to all about why the organization exists. It is intended to reflect the deep shared vision of everyone in an organization. To those already in the organization, it should provide a sense of shared purpose and direction. For prospective new members, it can provide a foundational reason why they might wish to join. For those outside, it can provide a reason to support the organization. A vision is truly shared when members of the organization have a similar picture of the future they are trying to create and are committed to movement of the organization toward the vision. When to use them The International Space University Vision already exists. The team will be developing their mission statement and it should be supportive of the organizational vision. Therefore, the design project teams should be aware of the organizational vision. Example The following is the organizational vision of International Space University: VISION The International Space University is an institution founded on the vision of a peaceful, prosperous and boundless future through the study, exploration and development of space for benefit of all humanity.
