Abigail Mowen Announces Volunteer
Effort: Save Kids Castle
Abigail Mowen is proud to announce that she has joined the fight to restore the township's
Kids Castle.

Abigail Mowen, long-time resident of Doylestown, Pennsylvania, is proud to announce that
she has joined the fight to restore the township's Kids Castle. This play structure, built in 1997,
is in desperate need of repair, and community effort seems to be the only path that leads to
restoration.

Abigail Mowen was moved to act after holding long conversations with her mother, Sharon
Mowen, who was the PR coordinator for the original effort back in 1997. Close family friend
Dawn Byers, who with her husband Jeff Byers spearheaded the original Kids Castle effort,
also inspired her to become involved. Abby realized that this time around, she could utilize
social media and reach even more people than the original effort, which did not have such
options available.

"After talking with my mother and Dawn, I set up a Facebook account called Save Kids Castle,
and I invited people to join and learn more about the steps the community needed to take to
repair this important structure," says Abigail Mowen. "The response was pretty overwhelming.
At last count, there were over 700 members."

Abigail Mowen is using the site to help motivate people to attend public meetings and learn
more about how they can get involved in fundraising and community action that could save
the structure. The first meeting was planned for Wednesday, August 22.

"I think almost everyone who has been to Kids Castle would agree that it is beautiful and
important, but I also think people just didn't realize how close the structure was coming to
being pulled down," says Abigail Mowen. "I just want people to get informed, and I think they'll
be motivated to act when they really understand what is at stake here."

Abigail Mowen also has personal reasons for getting involved with the movement.

"I spent a lot of time on Kids Castle when I was growing up," she says. "I just can't imagine
what the town would be like without that castle there, and I want to make sure it stays right
where it is."
