RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

1. Realization of two research projects in collaboration with the Department of

Anatomy of Bordeaux 2 University Medical School concerning the “Dorsal

anastomotic arcades of the fingers” (2001-2002) and the “Arterial blood

supply of the extensor apparatus of the long fingers” (2002-2003) for the needs

of the DU (University Diploma- Surgical Anatomy of Flaps) and my PhD

respectively. During that period I was familiarized with techniques in the

Laboratory of Anatomy (preservation, members coloration, dissection and

microdissection, scientific photography, etc.). 122 fingers had been dissected.

The results of these studies had clinical applications and were presented in

many international congresses. Additionally, my PhD had an important

implication in the realization of digital allotransplantation as it was stressed at

the conclusion of the 52nd Congress of the SOF CPRE (French Society of

   Plastic Surgery).

2. Research project concerning nerve regeneration through tubes for long nerve

defects (40mm) in the brachial plexus of the rats without utilization of

neurotrophic factors. The study realized in the Laboratory of Microsurgery of

EVMS (Eastern Virginia Medical School; 2005-2006). 25 rats were used. The

results have been published and presented in several international congresses.

Additionally, other investigators based on the same animal model they

studied nerve regeneration with the use of neurotrophic factors. Their results

were presented in international congresses and meetings.

                                                                                   14
