News Release For Further Information, Please Contact: Keith Schmink, Director of Bands Pontiac High School 1100 Indiana Avenue Pontiac, Illinois 61764 815-844-6113 Marching Indians Take 2nd at Washington Marching Panther Invitational The PTHS Marching Indians competed Saturday in the Washington Marching Panther Field Competition. The Marching Indians competed in Class 3A with bands from Pekin and Limestone. The band finished second overall in Class 3A behind Limestone. The Marching Indian flag squad was recognized as the top colorguard in Class 3A as well as the top colorguard of the entire day, regardless of class. Fifteen bands competed in classes 1A through 4A, with the Marching Indians finishing 5th overall behind the bands from Limestone, Joliet West, Normal West, and Morton, who was named Grand Champion on the day. Other bands in the competition included bands from ROWVA, Farmington, Tri-Valley, Watseka, Tri-Valley, Lincoln, Metamora, Pekin, Eureka, and Canton. The Marching Indians will appear again in exhibition next Saturday as they host the 9th annual Indian Showdown at Williamson Field. The Showdown will feature eighteen outstanding high school bands from across the state in competition beginning at 5:00 p.m. Bands from Paxton, Hoopeston, Watseka, Fieldcrest, Tri-Valley, Herscher, Geneseo, Streator, Illinois Valley Central, Danville, Eureka, East Peoria, Bolingbrook, Hindsdale, Washington, Plainfield, and Normal will join the Marching Indians in performance.
