Arts Education Partnership Fall 2012 National Forum

The Arts Education Partnership (AEP) is seeking graduate student volunteers to support the AEP Fall
2012 National Forum, Arts Learning Without Borders.

At this Forum, we will discuss how the realities of today’s educational landscape—technological
advances, new models of learning, educational funding, student assessments—are carving out an
increasingly critical role for the arts to unleash new ways of thinking, working, and learning in
America’s classrooms and society. We will explore how joining forces across the various sectors of
arts, education, business, culture, government, and philanthropy to find arts-centered solutions can
help students achieve and communities thrive.

WHEN: The Forum will be held in Chattanooga, Tennessee on Thursday and Friday, September 13-
14, 2012 at The Chattanoogan Hotel and Conference Center. To learn more about AEP National
Forums, visit the National Forums page on

ABOUT AEP: AEP is a national coalition of more than 100 education, arts, business, cultural,
government, and philanthropic organizations committed to securing a high-quality arts education
for every young person in America, improving arts education policy and practice, and understanding
how art influences and strengthens education.

Volunteers are needed for the following tasks:
 Registration: Assist with set-up and break down of the registration table, help attendees
check-in at the Forum, help process onsite registrations and publication sales, and oversee
       and maintain onsite “Resource Center.”

 Session Hosts: Guide presenters to their designated session(s), service any needs by the
presenters or attendees including distribution of session materials, keep time and record
attendance, serve as liaison between presenters and AEP staff while session is in progress,
          and equipment set-up as needed.

 Navigators: Guide attendees and special guests to sessions as needed, monitor shuttle
transportation and/or guide attendees to reception sites, serve as a greeter at hotel and
receptions, and work with AEP “stage manager” to ensure smooth run of production with
keynote speakers, panelists, and student performers.

 Research*: Help AEP explore how the theme, Arts Learning Without Borders, is playing out in
the Southeast region and nationwide. Research examples of innovative, cross-sector

with writing “Come Early, Stay Late” marketing messages promoting regional events occurring
before and after the Forum; and assist AEP in communicating with CVB and local businesses
          and attractions.

*These duties involve assisting AEP in July and August leading up to the Forum.
