The Government of India , Ministry of Science & Technology,
Department of Scientific & Industrial Research, New Delhi
has sanctioned a Major Research Project to
         Dr.(Mrs.) J.Kasthuri,
         Principal Investigator & Head,
         Department of Zoology
for the Period 2012 – 2014 under XI Plan.

Title of the Programme :
“Socioeconomic Empowerment of Rural Women by Training
    them with Agrobased Biotechnological Intervention”

 Objectives of the Programme:

   To exploit the ecofriendly biotechnology processes / packages
    for self sustained employment and income generation among
    rural women.
   To provide additional enterprise to rural women with
    agricultural background.
   To recycle agro based wastes and to create awareness on
    environmental conservation.
   To develop trained professionals in S & T.
   To promote entrepreneurship by training the rural women for
      - Mushroom cultivation.
      - Vermi composting of mushroom spent substrate.
      - Value addition of mushroom.
   To evolve regional network to get into global market and
   To uplift the socioeconomic status of rural women.

Target Area and Beneficiaries :

     This programme has been meticulously designed to uplift the
status of the socioeconomically backward      and educationally
disadvantaged groups of rural women belonging to SC / ST / MBC
/ OBC , Physically challenged women, widows , dropouts at
higher education / Secondary School Level , underprivileged
unemployed women and the most privileged women sector of Self
Help Group ( SHG ) as well , of Saminatham Panchayat, located at
Sivakasi West , Virudhunagar District .


Deliverables :

     On implementation of this Project, in 10 batches with the size
of 20 women each , a total of 200 rural women would get trained
on biotechnological processes / packages and thereby get Self
Employment     opportunities. Besides, the unemployed rural
women sector would be transformed into Job Providers rather
than Job Seekers .

Recruitment :
Under this Programme Applications are invited for the following
Posts
Technical Assistant : 1 Post, Salary (Consolidated Only)Rs. 8,000 /-
per month
Eligibility : M.Sc., / M.Phil., / Biotech/ Microbiology / Zoology /
Botany. Female Candidate Only.

Lab Attender : 1 Post, Salary (Consolidated Only)Rs. 4,000 /- per
month
Eligibility : +2 / Any UG Degree , Male Candidate Only.

Duration of the Project / Tenure of the Post : 2 Years
