What is SGA?
The Student Government Association is a representative assembly elected by the students of
Houston Community College Southwest. Members of Student Government serve for a term of one
year. Members must maintain a minimum 2.0 cumulative grade point average. SGA members serve
on committees, assist with campus events, attend leadership conferences and volunteer in their
community. Elections are held each spring semester in April. Officers must maintain a minimum 2.5
cumulative grade point average.
The purpose of the HCC SW Student Government Association (SGA) is to represent the student body
of this college. Our goal is simple: we aim to make student life on this campus more responsive to
students needs. We are your voice. We sit on numerous committees in which the administration and
various vendors consult with us to make this college more student-friendly. We are busy performing a
vital function, and we need your help.
