UNOFFICIAL COPY AS OF 09/18/12 12 REG. SESS. 12 RS BR 1485 A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of Gaylord Lenwood Thompson. WHEREAS, Gaylord Lenwood Thompson was born on November 21, 1932, to Albert and Christine Thompson Davis in Greenup County, Kentucky. After he graduated from Raceland High School, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served in the Korean War, where, by virtue of his outstanding courage, he achieved the rank of Sergeant and received numerous awards and medals. Mr. Thompson served the Commonwealth as a Sergeant with the Lexington Police Department in the Patrol and Criminal Investigations Sections for 27 years and graduated from the FBI Academy. Upon his retirement from the Lexington Police Department, he continued to protect the safety and security of the Commonwealth as a Court Security Officer with the United States Marshals Service, serving 18 years at the federal courthouses in Lexington and Frankfort; and WHEREAS, Mr. Thompson was a faithful member of Broadway Christian Church while he lived in Lexington, and Burgin Baptist Church after he retired. Mr. Thompson is remembered for his love of God and his devotion to his family, his country, and the Commonwealth; and WHEREAS, Mr. Thompson is survived by his beloved wife, Betty Thompson; his three sons, Gaylord M. (Lynne Ann) Thompson, Keith A. (Amy) Thompson, and Kevin R. (Teresa) Thompson; his daughter, Beth Thompson (Susan Mooney); his grandchildren, Michael D. Thompson, Chad A. Thompson, Brian (Jessica) Thompson, Andrew (Staci) Thompson, Shawn Thompson, and Shane Thompson; six great-grandchildren, Michael Drake Thompson, Kaitlyn Elizabeth Thompson, Jase Thompson, Harper Thompson, Baleigh Thompson, and Andrew Lenwood Thompson; his three sisters, Connie Stone, Janet Neitzey, and Nida Davis; his brother, Darrell Davis; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Rick Davis; and WHEREAS, Mr. Thompson traversed these earthly bounds on January 23, 2012, Page 1 of 2 BR148500.100 - 1485 - 3367 Jacketed UNOFFICIAL COPY AS OF 09/18/12 12 REG. SESS. 12 RS BR 1485 and an entire community joins his friends and family in mourning his loss; NOW, THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: Section 1. The Senate hereby expresses its most profound sense of sorrow and proffers its sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Gaylord Lenwood Thompson. Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving memory of Gaylord Lenwood Thompson. Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit this Resolution to Senator Kathy W.
