									                STEPS/TIPS TO USING THE GOOGLE SITE
STEPS
1. Log in to your Google email account.
2. Click on the Sites link located on the horizontal menu bar at the top of your screen.
    Click “Browse Sites” on the side bar and then click “curriculum” from the
       categories.
3. Click on Duplin County Schools Common Core/Essential Standards Curriculum site.
4. Demonstrate using the sidebar.
    Click on sidebar item (on left). Point out access to subpages (located in the
       middle of that webpage).
    Files can be uploaded here that would be helpful for that entire target audience
       (i.e. K-5 ELA, HS Math, 6-8 Science, K-8 Music….scoring rubrics)
    Comments can be posted here for that entire target audience (i.e. recommended
       web resources, text materials, etc. for K-5 ELA, HS Math, 6-8 Science, K-8 Music)
5. Demonstrate using the horizontal navigation bar.
    Move mouse over several tabs to reveal grade level/subject.
    Move mouse over a tab and select a grade level/subject (i.e. MS Social Studies)
           o Files can be uploaded here that would be helpful for that entire target
               audience. (i.e. scoring rubrics, web resources, text materials, etc.)
           o Comments can be posted here for that entire target audience.
6. Demonstrate uploading a file to a grade/subject-specific webpage.
    BEFORE adding a file, save the file with the new standard number/name in the
       filename. (enables teachers to quickly match the resource with the appropriate
       standard)
    Click on the “Add File” button, browse to the file and click “Open” (file will be
       uploaded)
7. Demonstrate uploading a web link to a grade/subject-specific webpage.
    Click on the “Add Link” button, type or paste in the web link.
    Type in “Text to Display” (use this area to type in standard number/name for
       teachers to easily match with the resource with the appropriate standard)
    Type in “Link Description” to describe the website and its usefulness for
       teachers.
8. Demonstrate using the “Comments” section. (for general comments related to
   that specific target audience)
    Click in “Comments” text box and key comment.
    Click “Add Comment” button.

TIPS
    AVOID clicking on the “Delete” button found on the specific grade/subject level
     webpage UNLESS you wish to delete YOUR OWN files or web links.
    AVOID clicking on the “Move to folder” button unless consulting
     Selina Riley-Gurganus for instructions. (this is important—as the goal is to keep
     the website consistent, user friendly, and beneficial to all)
    AVOID clicking on the “Subscribe to changes” button unless you would
     like an email update on EVERY change that is made to that page/site by
     all users.
