Dear Parents and Carers,

The school year is flying past and, despite wintry weather conditions, we’ve got a lot of exciting summer
activities planned. Please see diary dates at the end of this letter and also the school web site and
calendar on the main notice board.

Staff news.
Regretfully I have to tell you that Mrs.Roberts will be leaving us at the end of this term. After fifteen
years dedicated to the children at Threshfield she has decided to move on to new ventures. She will of
course be greatly missed and we are making plans for pupils, parents, staff and governors, both past and
present, to have the opportunity to say goodbye to her formally at the end of this term. We also have to
plan ahead to ensure good teaching continues in the Red Kites’ class. For the Autumn term I will be
teaching the class for two days a week and we will be appointing a new teacher for the other three days.
Governors are planning arrangements after that and you will be notified of decisions as soon as possible.
Mrs. Roberts will be assisting with plans and preparations for next term to ensure the transition is as
smooth as possible. The governors and I will be looking for an excellent teacher with a proven track
record of success and a range of skills that will compliment those of the current teaching staff. There are
benefits to be gained from our oldest children having two teachers and, with careful planning, we can
ensure the change is a positive one. If you have any questions about this, please see me or any
governor.

Linking schools project.
This half term sees the fruition of our link with Eastwood Primary School. KS2 Children in both schools
have prepared information about themselves and the two planned visits are coming up shortly. The
Grassington Festival committee have agreed to some of them joining our school activities at the Town
Hall with the other cluster schools. They are keen to support our aim of promoting cultural diversity and
it should be a very interesting afternoon!

General reminders for children’s safety.
   1. Medicines can only be given to children in school if they are prescribed by a doctor and the
relevant paperwork completed. We have only got time to administer the essentials.
   2. Computers are a valuable tool but carry potential dangers. We teach children about e-safety at
school but this needs vigilance at home too.
   3. Free school meals are available to some children and the school receives extra funding if they
are taken up. We would like everyone eligible to do so. Thank you.
   4. The adventure playground must only be used by Threshfield school children in school hours. The
county’s insurance does not cover anything beyond this.
