As a prime tourist attraction, Northlands Park Edmonton
attracts thousands of visitors throughout the year to attend the
various events hosted at this venue. There are concerts, family
shows, trade shows, sports, agricultural events, horse racing,
conferences and other catered events. Some of Edmonton’s
largest and most popular events are the Capital EX, FarmFair
International, the Canadian Finals Rodeo, just to name a few.
The major exhibitions in Northlands Park are the Alberta Gift
Show, Farm and Ranch Show, Home and Garden Show,
Western manufacturing Technology Show and others. It is also
considered the third busiest concert venue in Canada with
international and national events by some of the biggest and
best artists.

About the venue
Centrally located and conveniently close to the downtown
Edmonton, Northlands Parkis a favorite among visitors and
locals alike and sees more than 3.5 million people annually. It
has three parts:
     The Skyreach Center which is a multi-sport spectator
     facility
     The Northlands Agricom, the largest exhibition centers in
     Canada
     The Spectrum, a stadium for horse racing.
Northlands Park is a not-for-profit community service
organization run by volunteers. It is committed to making
Edmonton and North Central Alberta the best place for visitors
and residents. The funds generated are used for future events.

The Capital EX
The Capital EX, a ten day event, is held in July every year and is
eagerly anticipated. These ten days are packed with
entertainment, exhibitions, rides and live shows, shopping and
more. It is an event that caters to the entire family’s
amusement. Originally called the Klondike Days, the Capital EX
has a long and interesting history. At sunset each day during
the ten day event the TELUS Stage lights up for live concerts,
showcasing some of Canada’s best talent.
At this event, a huge range of products are exhibited by
vendors. The festival begins with a huge parade in the
downtown area which finishes with a flourish and a fireworks
display. Visitors also enjoy a lottery.

At the other end of the spectrum of entertainment during the
Capital EX are the monster truck shows at Rexall Place in
Northlands Park, Edmonton. Here, specially designed and high
powered monster trucks run at 100 miles per hour, taking off
and jumping large distances and rising high in the air, holding
the audience enthralled.
The Capital EX also features the three day IndyCar races
enjoyed by motor enthusiasts. This is promoted by Octane
Motorsports Events Montreal, which also promotes the
Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix and the NASCAR races.

Other events at Northlands Park, Edmonton

Northlands Park also hosts the Canadian Derby featuring
Alberta’s thoroughbreds and jockeys surpass themselves in
over 1400 live and simulcast races annually. The Canadian
Finals Rodeo is another event that is fun and entertaining.

Home to Rexall Place, Northlands Park is where Edmonton
Oilers’ fans can catch their game. Rexall Place is also where the
best international artists perform to sold-out concerts to the
cheering cries of fans. Canada’s talented figure skaters can also
be watched here, performing their acrobatics in “Stars on Ic e”.
