 Mission Portland Elementary supports the development of students who are self-regulated curious life-long

on the Communication Arts MAP from 53.5% in 2010-2011to 60.0% in 2011-2012 Increase the percentage of students

Additional Elements:
The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB) states any eligible school that desires to operate a schoolwide program shall
first develop, in consultation with the local educational agency (LEA) and its school support team or other technical
assistance provider, a comprehensive plan to be reviewed by DESE for reforming the total instructional program in the
school that shall include the following components.

2. Identify measures to include teachers in the decisions regarding the use of MAP and other assessments in order to
provide information on and to improve the achievement of individual students and the overall instructional program.
School staff revises the School Improvement Plan each year to address the overall instructional program to meet the
needs of individual students. Teacher Teams Study Groups meet to look at student work, analyze data, and plan for
instruction. The PDSA model is implemented using the PDSA (plan, do, study, act) cycle to continually adjust instruction
to meet the needs of individual students and improve achievement. Literacy Team Meetings are held every other week to
analyze data, track students on the Intervention Wall and reflect on literacy practices throughout the building.
