MTC Library Operational Plan
2009 - 2014
MISSION STATEMENT
The libraries at Moultrie Technical College support the College's mission to provide a culture of
learning through occupational education, academic education, distance education, business
and industry training and workforce development by providing organized access to information
resources and services.
OPERATIONAL PLAN
MTC Library will incorporate the following goals and objectives listed below in support of each
program offered.
GOAL 1: FACILITIES
(1) Provide accessible, comfortable and adaptable facilities capable of accommodating
student, faculty and staff needs.
GOAL 2: TRAINING AND STAFF DEVELOPMENT
(2) Provide specialized staff and support personnel who do the following:
(a) Promote, guide, and direct access to information and materials;
(b) Provide assistance and training in using library resources, to include providing
an ongoing orientation program to students, faculty and staff; and,
(c) Share expertise among MTC libraries and other libraries.
GOAL 3: COLLECTIONS
(3) Provide access to electronic and print resources, online tools and other information
sources through GALILEO, the Internet, the online catalog and the library’s web page.
GOAL 4: RESOURCE SHARING
(4) Provide linkages to libraries, agencies and other institutions to facilitate direct access
to and the sharing of resources.
GOAL 5: INFORMATION LITERACY INSTRUCTION
(5) Provide instructional support focusing on the information literacy skills needed to
find, retrieve, analyze and use information effectively.
(a) Reference and Research Assistance for individuals and groups
(b) Collaboration with faculty on research projects and library assignments
(c) Instructional Handouts
(d) Classroom Presentations
(e) Database Demonstrations
(f) Information Literacy sessions/workshops
(g) Library Orientation/Library Catalog
(h) Library Tours
GOAL 6: ASSESSMENT
(6) Identify and address the needs of faculty, students and staff for resources, assistance
and services through periodic assessment and ongoing improvements.
In addition to the main and satellite campus libraries, some instructional programs house and
manage materials/resources within their classrooms and/or laboratories. These materials
and/or resources are relevant and specialized for the specific programs served.
