You will need to print it out and bring it to induction. Please ensure you have read the programme through before you come and bring any necessary documents, photos etc to the relevant session. You will also need to look at the link below and follow any instructions. Some documents may need to be returned to the University before you arrive. Tuesday 18 September 2012 10.00am – Induction Session 1 11.00am Dr Stuart Rowlands Lecture Theatre 1, ground floor, Roland Levinsky Building This meeting is very important. It is your first formal contact with the staff who involved with your programme, and your fellow students. The session will be led by the Programme Manager, Stuart Rowlands, who will introduce you to the structure of your course, give brief details of the topics you will cover, and what is expected from you when you study at university. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions. Any time University Registration between Main Hall 11.00am – 12.00pm You must register between these times. You must complete Online Enrolment prior to attending this session. Details of how to online enrol are here. If you have not already done so, please upload a photograph of yourself using the e@pplicant page https://eservices.plymouth.ac.uk/app/ following the online instructions. The photo is required for your University Card which is issued to new students when you attend Faculty Induction. Failure to provide a photo will delay the production of your University Card. NB: this is not required if you already have a University Card i.e. because you were previously a student on another course or at a Partner College. Your University Card will remain valid for the duration of your studies at Plymouth University. If you already have a card you do not need to attend this session. For this session you will also need to bring along your Payment Schedule letter. 12.00pm - Buffet Lunch (free!) 1.00pm Sherwell Exhibition Space – mezzanine floor, Sherwell Church 3.00pm – Induction Session 2 5.00pm Dr Stuart Rowlands Sherwell Church Lecture Theatre 2 (Upper) During this session you will receive your timetable for the first term and details of your tutor meeting on Thursday/Friday. It will also include an introduction to the portal, the library and the key study skills you will need. Wednesday 19 September 2012 2.00pm – Sustainability and Energy Saving Awareness 2.30pm Office of Procurement and Sustainability Lecture Theatre 1, Robbins Conference Centre How Plymouth University is reducing carbon emissions and how you can reduce your own carbon footprint on campus 2.30pm – Introduction to the Students’ Union 3.00pm Lecture Theatre 1, Robbins Conference Centre A representative of the Students’ Union will outline all the extra- curricular activities you can enjoy, including; sports clubs and societies, volunteering, and how the Union is the hub of social life whilst studying. They provide your student support and representation. 3.00pm – The Plymouth Award 3.20pm Karen Turvey Lecture Theatre 1, Robbins Conference Centre The Plymouth Award is designed to recognise and celebrate student achievements outside the curriculum. Many University of Plymouth students already make significant contributions to the life of the University and the communities in which they live and work. The Plymouth Award is one way of recognising the value that we place on these contributions and the learning and personal growth that students gain from these activities. 7.00pm – Wednesday Welcome Party 9.30pm Graduation Marquee, Plymouth Hoe The Welcome Party is your opportunity to meet informally with other students new to The Faculty of Science and Technology as well as some current students and your academic staff. Additionally the evening includes a welcome drink and nibbles, entertainment and a raffle for all attendees with an iPad to be won on the night. More information and your invitation is here. You will be given this earlier in the week. 4.00pm – If you are an EU or Overseas student you must attend the 5.00pm following session: International Student Arrival Checklist Session for all EU and Overseas students International Student Advisory Service Lecture Theatre 1, ground floor, Roland Levinsky Building, The International Student Advisory Service (ISAS) team will run this essential session to offer practical advice on everything that you need to complete in your first few weeks in Plymouth.
