					Infosys Limited, formerly Infosys Technologies Limited (BSE: 500209, NSE: INFY,
NASDAQ: INFY) is an Indian multinational provider of business consulting, technology,
engineering and outsourcing services company. It is headquartered in Bangalore,
Karnataka.[2]

History
Infosys was co-founded in 1981 by N. R. Narayana Murthy, Nandan Nilekani, N. S.
Raghavan, S. Gopalakrishnan, S. D. Shibulal, K.Dinesh and Ashok Arora after they resigned
from Patni Computer Systems.

Awards and Recognitions
Infosys ranked among the most innovative companies in a Forbes survey [3], leading
technology companies in a report by The Boston Consulting Group [4] and top ten green
companies in Newsweek's Green Rankings [5]

Infosys was voted India's most admired company in The Wall Street Journal Asia 200 [6]
every year since 2000. The corporate governance practices were recognized by The Asset
Platinum award [7] and the IR Global Rankings.[8]

Infosys was also ranked as the 15th most trusted brand in India by The Brand Trust Report [9]

Initiatives
Infosys Foundation

In 1996, Infosys established the Infosys Foundation, to support the underprivileged sections
of society.[11]. At the outset, the Infosys Foundation implemented programs in Karnataka. It
subsequently covered Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Orissa, and Punjab in a
phased manner. A dedicated team at the Foundation identifies programs in the areas of
Healthcare, Education, Culture, Destitute Care and Rural Development.[12]

Academic Entente

Infosys' Global Academic Relations team forges Academic Entente (AcE)[clarification needed] with
academic and partner institutions.[13] It explores co-creation opportunities between Infosys
and academia through case studies, student trips and speaking engagements. They also
collaborate on technology, emerging economies, globalization, and research. Some initiatives
include research collaborations, publications, conferences and speaking sessions, campus
visits and campus hiring.[14]

InStep

InStep is Infosys' flagship global internship program. The program students from
management, technical and liberal arts backgrounds. InStep fosters a multi-cultural
environment within the organization and provides strategy and research projects. The InStep
program is also part of AcE activities.[15]
The Infosys Science Foundation

The Infosys Science Foundation, a not-for-profit trust, was set up in February 2009 by the
management of Infosys.[16] The Foundation instituted the Infosys Prize, an annual award, to
honor outstanding achievements of researchers and scientists across five categories: Social
Sciences, Physical Sciences, Engineering and Computer Sciences, Mathematical Sciences
and Life Sciences, each carrying a prize of rupees 50 Lakh. The award intends to celebrate
success in scientific research and stand as a marker of excellence in these fields.

A jury, comprising eminent leaders in each of these fields, evaluates the achievements of the
nominees against the standards of international research, placing the winners on par with the
finest researchers in the world.[17]

Infosys Labs

Infosys Labs is organized as a global network of research labs and innovation hubs. [18]

Infosys Labs collaborates with leading national and international universities such as the
University of Southern California, [19] University of Cambridge, [20] Queensland University of
Technology, University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, Indian Institute of Technology
Bombay – Monash Research Academy, Purdue University, [21] Indian Institute of Information
Technology, Bangalore.

Charity

In October 2009, the northern districts of Karnataka were severely affected by floods after
torrential rainfall. It claimed hundreds of lives and rendered millions of villagers homeless.[22]

The employees of Infosys joined hands to rebuild villages and undertake a mass housing
project. Infoscions, together with the Board of Directors and the Infosys Foundation,
contributed US$ 6.8 million towards relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction.[23]

Allegations of Visa Fraud
An employee of the company filed a civil suit in 2011 in Federal court in Alabama in the U.S.
alleging that Infosys was misusing B-1 visas. on August 20, 2012, the judge dismissed the
suit filed by the employee Mr. Jack Palmer. [24]
