									                          Cora Wilding Memorial Award
                                Application Form

YHA New Zealand is a not-for-profit charitable organisation which has been operating in New Zealand since 1932. Its
charitable Aims and Objects are:
           To promote within New Zealand the education, health and well being of people by providing
           encouragement and opportunity for the gaining of knowledge and awareness of:

                  The culture of the countryside, towns, cities and peoples of New Zealand.
                  The environment and the study of the same.
                  The culture of other countries and peoples.
           In furtherance of this purpose the Association shall provide hostels or similar accommodation, promotes
           educational and recreational activities, facilitate travel, and practice and promote environmental
           sustainability.
This Award was established to perpetuate the memory of the founder of the Association. It comprises a substantial
subsidy (up to $2500) towards the cost of participation in a personal development training course, for a maximum of two
individuals in any year. It also includes a one-year subscription-free membership to YHA New Zealand.

Applications will be considered by the YHA New Zealand Awards Committee. The principles they will use to guide
their assessment of applications is as follows:
    i.         The extent to which the Award assists the applicant makes a contribution to their local community, rather than
               solely provide a personal gain.
    ii.        Whether the applicant has the means to undertake their activity anyway. In other words, but for this Award, the
               applicant could not achieve their desired outcomes.
    iii.       How well the application aligns with YHA's charitable aims and objects, and Cora Wilding's intentions for YHA that
               the Award is designed to honour.

                                                How to apply for this award
Complete the personal details section on the back of this form and attach a written statement which includes the
following:

              The name, brief description, and cost of the personal development training course you wish to attend.
              Why you want to attend this particular course.
              How your application fits with the Award Committee’s principles as outlined above.
              Any other relevant information that you feel would be relevant and would help the committee make its
               determinations.

What will happen next?
After the closing date, the Awards Committee will review all applications and make a decision on who will be granted
